[Elysia Cosplay] The Pink Elf of Honkai Impact 3rd: The 6-Shoulder-Strap Dress Challenge

Who puts six shoulder straps on one dress?! After returning from IDO Anime Convention and sorting through the photos, I truly felt the designer's intense obsession. I initially thought it was just an ordinary dress, not expecting so much effort poured into the shoulder structure. These six straps are not just meant to support the weight of the gown, but also serve as a vital source of linear aesthetics across the black-and-purple design. Two slender straps cross at the collarbone, pairing with the star badge and metal chain in front to create an exquisite sway when walking.

To faithfully recreate Elysia Cosplay, the preparation took quite a while. For the wig, I fine-tuned the curve of the bangs and the fullness on both sides, paired it with bright blue contact lenses, and added the elf ear props. The makeup focused heavily on clarity, translucency, and the horizontal proportions of the eyes. Since it had to complement the long pink hair, the contact lenses needed a brighter pop of color. Putting on this dress was also quite a hassle, especially adjusting those six shoulder straps; they had to be aligned repeatedly in the mirror to avoid skewing or exposing parts that shouldn't show, only flattering the shoulder lines once perfectly positioned.

The lighting environment at IDO Anime Convention today was actually quite complex—the hall lights shifted between warm and cool white, making shooting a bit tricky. To find the right angles, we experimented with several different compositions on set. I'm especially satisfied with photo 2: resting my hand on my chest pointing toward the necklace clearly highlights its intricate details, while the deep V-neckline flatters the collarbone, and the high-waisted cut with the belt elongates proportions nicely. The subtle dark jacquard pattern of the black-and-purple fabric doesn't glare easily, resulting in a premium texture without worrying about blown-out highlights.

When portraying a character, capturing the overall ambiance is crucial. Holding this bouquet of white and blue roses was meant to soften the slightly rigid feel of the black dress. The white satin gloves featured lace details and star motifs, seamlessly blending girlish sweetness with the character's mysterious charm. Although wearing such a fitted dress isn't very comfortable—especially navigating high foot traffic at an anime convention while taking care not to snag the necklace or bouquet—standing before the booth in this outfit and seeing appreciative glances from onlookers made all the struggle with adjusting those six straps feel worthwhile.

Heading out for this Casual cosplay shoot was mainly about enjoying the on-site atmosphere and chatting with fellow Honkai Impact 3rd fans. We captured some half-body shots and close-ups in a well-lit corner, and the shot where my right index finger lightly hooks around the necklace turned out to be the most fitting cover. The gaze direction, along with the luster of the gloves and dress, beautifully captured the character's core traits. Looking through these Convention photos, many details of this outfit truly hold up to scrutiny, like the hem seams and the back zipper construction.
