[Nazrin Cosplay] Touhou Project Street Stroll, the Details of This Outfit Are Incredible

This Nazrin hair and makeup alone took nearly three hours, obsessing over every step from trimming the front bangs to securing the animal ear hair accessories on both sides. Since we wanted to faithfully restore this highly distinctive character from Touhou Project, the silver-gray wig layers had to be voluminous enough, paired with red colored contacts to perfectly capture that gaze wandering between fantasy and reality.

Actually, we started preparing for this Guangzhou Firefly D1 outdoor shoot a month ago. What took the most thought was the styling logic of this outfit, with the main color palette set in black, white, and light blue. The handmade ruffles and layered lace around the collar are arguably the soul of the entire upper body, preventing the overall silhouette from looking flat. The outer light blue short cape tones down the overly complex white collar, and the tiny black bows adorned on it not only fill the blankness of a single color but also strongly echo the black skirt hem on the lower body. This subtle color clash preserves the elegance of a Lolita outfit while allowing me to completely immerse myself into the character's temperament.

Before the shoot, I was worried whether the long gray tail would fall off during outdoor movements. Fortunately, the photographer and I used hidden snaps inside the belt to secure it, so in Figure 5 when standing on one leg, lifting the basket, and looking back, the tail could still maintain a natural draping curve without looking stiff. To recreate Nazrin's agile feeling, we specially brought that long black rod prop. At first, I was worried that holding such a long rigid prop in an outdoor setting like a crosswalk would look awkward, but the final shots showed that the matte black texture of the prop actually became a great visual extension in the half-body photos, feeling like a 2D design illustration stretched into real space.

This shoot took place on an outdoor crosswalk, right in the surrounding area of the Day 1 convention. To avoid the crowds, we got up exceptionally early. The natural light on a cloudy day was very soft, without harsh shadows. This diffuse reflection made the facial light and shadow very clean, and the red colored contacts looked unusually translucent under this light, completely restoring the "divine feeling" I wanted. The pose in Figure 5 is actually what I think is the most outstanding in the whole set: standing on one leg while lifting a mini woven rattan basket, plus the eye contact when looking back, immediately releasing that tsundere yet slightly playful attribute.

Regarding makeup details, besides emphasizing the eye makeup layers, I specifically used earth-toned eyeshadow with a small amount of fine shimmer to brighten the eye sockets and aegyosal (under-eye area), allowing both eyes to maintain clarity even with the enhancement of red colored contacts. For the base makeup, I chose a lightweight and long-lasting liquid foundation because the outdoor weather in Guangzhou is indeed prone to sweating; only by doing dynamic snapshots walking back and forth on the crosswalk can the true effect of setting makeup be tested. When shooting the half-squatting pose in Figure 4, the skirt naturally spread out, and the upper body was wrapped in the cape and wide lace cuffs, instantly giving that top-heavy fairy-tale feeling, which happens to be a common gap moe in Touhou Project character settings.

Besides the long rod prop, that mini woven basket in Figure 5 was also carefully selected by us. Although its capacity is too small to hold much of anything, as a scene prop, it provided a strong visual effect, giving the frame a daily and natural atmosphere of life instead of being a pure studio pose. The sapphire teardrop necklace on the chest is a wonderful finishing touch; it has excellent luster against the light-colored cape, becoming one of the visual center points of the entire outfit. In the final color grading, we uniformly lowered the saturation of the green leaves to make the black, white, and blue colors on the character pop more, preserving a fresh outdoor air feeling.
