This appearance at the Black Dragonfly Comic Con was another relentless, hardcore marathon shoot, knocking out three complete cosplays—Yumemizuki Mizuki, Yin Ziping, and Dorothy—in a single day. I crawled out of bed before dawn to start my makeup, kicking off with Yumemizuki Mizuki's pale cyan double-bun wig. I secured it thoroughly with wig caps and hairspray to make sure it wouldn't collapse amidst crowded convention aisles. The costume features a white, purple, and pink spliced palette with layered waist sashes and ornate sleeve tailoring that took patient adjusting to fit flush. The most physically taxing prop was the purple round fan; holding it aloft with one arm to match varying camera angles left my forearm aching toward the end of the set.
Next came the quick change into Yin Ziping. The silver-white twintail wig with black-and-white hairpieces carried noticeable weight, putting real strain on my neck over time. The white modified dress is cut very form-fitting; to keep the silhouette clean, I could only wear the sheerest undergarments. The lower half paired with white stockings, and I had to walk vigilantly around the exhibition halls to avoid snags or runs. Navigating between booths on high heels drained my stamina at an alarming rate. Posing in the pink gaming chair looked relaxed on the surface, but keeping crisp leg contours meant constant micro-tension through my ankles and knees.
The final look, Dorothy, with her cascading pink curly wig, took the longest to style. The pink wig had to be finger-combed in sections ahead of time, and the side braids were pinned down with multiple barrettes. The multi-tiered lace ruffle dress had substantial weight and trapped heat like an oven. Paired with white lace-trimmed thigh-high socks, kneeling on one knee across a white circular ottoman demanded continuous mindfulness against wardrobe malfunctions given the short hemline, leaving my waist and leg muscles taut throughout.
Foot traffic on the convention floor was massive, and indoor temperatures were stifling. Shooting in such a hardcore rush meant scheduling meals and water down to the minute. Wardrobe changes across all three cosplays were handled hastily in public restrooms or tucked-away backstage corners. The rolling suitcase packed with wigs, contact lenses, garments, and bulky props was brutally heavy to drag through halls and subway transfers. With such a tight timeline, I had to lock into character demeanor and posture instantly for every look. From cyan hair to silver to pastel pink, each outfit brought an entirely distinct physical presence. Exhausting as it was, seeing all three looks captured so cleanly in the final photos made every drop of effort worthwhile.
