[Elysia Cosplay] Meeting the Pink Fairy by the Summer Beach in Honkai Impact 3rd

We chose the seaside as the outdoor location for this shoot, with a slightly rusted vintage blue-and-white van as the backdrop, combined with the sandy beach and palm trees to create a strong holiday atmosphere. To ensure the portrayal best captured Elysia, I repeatedly fine-tuned my makeup details, creating a luminous, translucent base and emphasizing the sparkle in the eyes.

Elysia's most iconic feature is her long pink braided hair; styling this wig took quite a bit of effort because the sea breeze was strong, requiring not only hairspray to fix it in place but also frequent adjustments to keep it from obscuring my facial contours.

Regarding the costume, the styling featured a white crop-top set with a white miniskirt and white stiletto high heels. Walking across the Summer beach in stilettos required caution against slipping while maintaining an upright, poised posture. The star-shaped tattoo sticker at the waist was a focal point; we adjusted angles multiple times during the shoot to make it stand out prominently in front of the lens.

The shooting process was fun and required patience. Because the sunlight by the sea was intense, coordinating reflectors and lighting gear was challenging. To capture natural, translucent light and shadow, we shifted positions repeatedly beneath several palm trees.

The first photo is a half-body close-up that I really like: leaning forward and reaching out one hand in an inviting gesture while looking straight into the lens, with my hair lifted by the breeze. This perspective clearly showcases the charm of the makeup and gaze, while the folds of the white top display rich layers under the sunlight.

The second photo is a full-body shot showcasing the overall proportions and integration into the scene. Leaning lightly against the van with one foot slightly on tiptoe, the sand underfoot and the vintage van behind create a retro holiday aesthetic; the lines of the legs and the overall outfit harmonize beautifully in the sunshine.

To channel the character's personality, I actively engaged my emotions to project a relaxed, lively, and confident state—avoiding rigid posing in favor of capturing spontaneous, candid moments. Running around the beach in high heels all day was exhausting and required constant makeup touch-ups, yet it was deeply rewarding to feel the vibrant life of a 2D character brought into the 3D world.

From makeup to styling, pre-shoot preparations took significant time. Choosing a seaside shoot was not only because the summer atmosphere suited the character's aesthetic, but also because shooting in bright sunlight usually yields high results, despite the challenge of controlling harsh light. We did several test rounds between shaded spots and direct sunlight. During the shoot, we paid special attention to the uniquely shaped white star pattern on the waist; this design is iconic in her character lore, so we deliberately preserved its crisp texture during framing and post-processing.

Shooting this outfit outdoors beyond a photography studio was quite a test, especially with the miniskirt and high heels combination. Moving across the sand while maintaining balance required constant tension and adjustment in the leg muscles. Reviewing the photos later, I was pleasantly surprised by how stable my stance looked in such an environment. The fine sand and textured vintage van gave the entire set a rich holiday feel.

Because the sunlight was intense that day, wearing colored contact lenses posed some comfort challenges, but putting them on made it much easier to step into the character's mindset. I tried to project a light, effortless presence before the camera, staying close to the character's traits through authentic interactions and capturing windswept hair moments without affected posing. This shooting experience was fulfilling and unique—an exploration of role portrayal as well as a sharpening of my expressive craft.
