With the tropical beach backdrop in the studio plus two fill lights, the atmospheric vibe for this shoot was set. To match this scene, I specially prepared short black hair with blunt bangs, trimmed with a certain sense of layering and fluffiness, paired with red colored contacts to present that visual impact with 2D attributes in front of the lens. The eye makeup emphasized the red smudging on the lower eyelid and dotted a few moles on the cheeks, making it more recognizable in close-up shots.
For the clothing matching, I chose a loose white off-the-shoulder cropped top with a black thin-strapped inner layer, and the lower body consisted of black tight shorts featuring a semi-transparent mesh patchwork design on the sides, which is not only breathable but also showcases great leg lines when sitting with knees bent. To give the overall look more layers, the black jagged thorn choker around the neck is an indispensable detail. Appearing barefoot is actually quite a test for foot posture and shooting angles, requiring tightening the instep to elongate leg proportions. For props, I prepared a black frosted cup and a yellow chick plush toy. The black cup formed a strong color contrast against the pure white top, while the yellow plush added a bit of playfulness to the frame.
After the official shoot started, I tried a few different sets of poses. The first set was looking back sideways while holding up the black cup; the key to this pose is to slightly shrug the shoulders, tighten the jawline, and let the eyes express a casual coolness. For the second set of movements, I changed to a cross-legged sitting posture with hands naturally resting on my knees; this set was mainly to showcase the integration of the overall outfit and the scene. The third photo is a set I personally love very much: holding the cup with one hand while gently pressing the index finger of the other hand against my lower lip, slightly tilting my head. To capture this photo, the photographer and I communicated for a long time about the angles of light and shadow to ensure the fill light could cast a nice highlight on the face while allowing the legs to occupy a reasonable proportion in the frame, showing the details of the thighs and the shorts' mesh.
While shooting this set of photos, a partner with white hair and pink heart-shaped sunglasses also appeared in the background, and we would interact occasionally to make the frame more lively. The entire studio shooting process went smoothly, which tested the fluidity of movements and facial expression management. Without the constraints of a character's setting, I felt even more free in my expression. The beach and coconut tree patterns in the background, combined with the lighting, restored a lazy sense of a summer vacation. Every time I do cosplay, it's not as simple as just putting on an outfit; from makeup details to prop selection, and cooperation with the photographer, every link requires careful refinement. The visual presentation this time met my expectations, and I hope it brings everyone a cool summer feeling.
