[Gongsun Li cosplay] Honor of Kings Smoke of Partings: Jianghu Feuds and Lingering Romance

Once the Smoke of Partings ensemble was fully arranged, the braided styling of the wig and the red beaded ornaments needed one final symmetry check. For if lovers' mountain vows truly endure, why does the Jianghu bestow only parting sorrow? This poetic question anchored my emotional core throughout this Zhengzhou cosplay photoset shoot. Gongsun Li's skin design brims with the bittersweet melancholy of Jianghu wanderers; to authentically recreate that atmosphere, considerable care was poured into the styling. A midnight-blue wig served as the base, sculpted into twin topknot buns with delicate flanking braids and soft side tendrils, while crimson beads and golden hairpins gleamed with tactile richness under the studio strobes.

For makeup, the eyes stood as the defining centerpiece: azure contact lenses were blended with reddish-brown eyeshadow hues, paired with rosy blush and petal-pink lips to embody Gongsun Li's essence—vibrant radiance laced with delicate, melancholic fragility. The garment features exquisite nuances: the white sleeveless top is bordered with crimson panels and golden cloud embroidery, while the cyan circular jade ring and blue-and-white knotted tassels at the waist swayed gracefully with every movement. The flowing white outer skirt was exceptionally long; to complete the visual balance, I wore black stiletto heels laced with red ribbon ties, walking carefully around the studio to prevent stepping on the hem and causing awkward bunching.

Captured at the Shiyue Cosplay Experience Studio in Zhengzhou, the studio set design was crafted with immense artistry. Translucent gauze drapes inscribed with calligraphy, staggered bamboo groves, and warm amber lantern light wove an authentic Chinese-style cosplay ambiance. With multiple props including a folding fan, a flute, and an oiled-paper umbrella, finding natural gripping angles required constant repositioning. The wing-adorned flute was particularly hefty, yet holding it steady was paramount for the visual narrative. Posing across quiet sitting stances, holding the fan, or reclining along a wooden divan, I channeled the conflicting tension between Jianghu feuds and romantic longing. Post-processing preserved the ambient warm glow while boosting chromatic contrast to let the attire and midnight-blue hair pop, infusing the chiaroscuro with cinematic softness. Every cosplay endeavor—from lore research and makeup tests to studio shooting—is a patient journey toward embodying the character.
