Every time the shutter snapped, that silver reflective surface looked like a true mirror under the play of light and shadow, fittingly matching the theme of her name this time. Arriving at the Firefly ACG Expo venue that day, the lighting inside the hall was actually much harder to harness than anticipated; because the transparent floor-to-ceiling windows were so massive, any slight oversight could cause blown-out white glare across the face or costume. Fortunately, having discussed this beforehand with the photographer, we selected an inner area where we utilized the natural light from outside as a broad key light, complemented by an artificial warm side light to cleanly outline the three-dimensional silhouette of this metallic costume.
The fabric material of this outfit can't really be called comfortable—the silver outer layer is extremely stiff, and despite having some stretch, wearing it feels closer to being encased in a 3D shell. In particular, the wide sleeve design on the arms is detached from the main bodice; when pulling off dynamic, wide-spanning poses, the swinging sleeves could easily disrupt the compositional balance of the shot. To avoid creating harsh creases and dead folds on the glossy fabric, after every single pose I had to manually smooth out the contours of the shiny surfaces.
The overall styling combination for this character requires meticulous attention: the silver-white ear-length short hair with purple-blue mixed streaks effectively tempers the heavy look of the patent leather pants. The single-leg balance poses in the photos were precisely the hardest to control throughout the entire shoot—the trouser material offered virtually no traction, so stabilizing my center of gravity relied entirely on my ankles and core. I also didn't dare bend my knees too abruptly, or the seam lines at the base of the thighs would pull into unsightly stress wrinkles.
As for that crystal prop with its complex optical properties, holding it in hand actually carried noticeable weight. Because the physical prop incorporates multi-colored refractive films, it wasn't as eye-catching without a strong ambient light source on-site; however, once the light hit at the right angle, the outer geometric facets reflected laser-like blue-purple brilliance. The photographer had me adjust the prop's tilt angle while continuously snapping the shutter, all to capture that split second where the reflection hit peak brightness with razor-sharp edges.
Regarding makeup, my artist Ah Qing specifically dialed down color saturation, pressing the overall color temperature very low—virtually doing away with pink blushes or vivid lipsticks in favor of a matte base paired with crisp eyeliner throughout. This cool-toned makeup combined with the silver outfit preserved the character's crisp, cool demeanor to the greatest extent. The bangs were styled exceptionally well; even when sweating toward the end of the session, they maintained their fundamental curvature, keeping the overall presence sharp.
Of course, within the bustling convention setting, carved-out quiet moments to produce a crisp, light-focused set of photos are truly rare. Visitors passed back and forth inside the venue, and to avoid blocking natural light for those behind us, we kept the shoot tightly paced. Occasional passersby leaned in out of curiosity to inspect the prop, making on-site coordination a true test of patience.
Fortunately, all pose references and detail adjustments were planned prior to shooting, so the timeframe from dressing up to finishing the shots was relatively short. While this outfit appears static when standing still, once in motion, the tension of the patent leather and the metallic sheen reveal a completely different texture under the shutter. I actually slipped once mid-shoot—mainly due to mismanaging my center of gravity on slick patent leather—but luckily the prop wasn't damaged, leaving it as a small interlude. I feel the final selected photos accurately represent the character's crisp, precise edge. Especially in this physical environment, the silver reflective material blended seamlessly, giving the entire scene a distinctly futuristic, tech-inspired feel.
