Today, I shot a finished photo set of Arona in a classroom. The design of this sailor suit is quite intricate—the top features a subtle gradient from light blue to deep navy, with a slightly lustrous fabric that captures studio light with rich texture. The large white bow at the collar and chest required meticulous grooming to hold its structured shape, needing occasional touch-ups mid-shoot to prevent warping. The wig is silver-white blended with pastel blue and pink highlights, which took considerable time to trim and style. In particular, the oversized bow atop the head had to be secured with numerous bobby pins so it wouldn't shift when leaning over or lying down. To stay faithful to the canon design, I wore a white choker, and the skirt hem features small colorful embroidered motifs—tiny details that truly shine in macro close-ups.
Since the premise was an after-school classroom, we deliberately sought out a venue with genuine wooden flooring and wooden school desks. Special thanks to the venue's set dressing: faint chalk writings lingered on the blackboard, and books and stationery were arranged across the teacher's podium, infusing the frame with authentic lived-in warmth. To introduce extra visual elements, I brought along a blue-and-yellow volleyball. This prop enriched our compositions when sitting or lying on the floor, preventing the scene from feeling sparse. The makeup was kept airy and clean, focusing mainly on the azure eyes. Choosing the exact contact lens shade took extensive deliberation, and the blush was placed slightly higher on the cheekbones to evoke youthful vivacity.
Throughout the shoot, the photographer constantly guided emotional nuances. Because Arona conveys a gentle, quiet presence, most poses centered around sitting on the floor, resting across desks, or leaning against chairs. The frame where I lay on the floor with my legs resting on a chair actually took several attempts—it required a slight high angle to achieve that effortless languid mood while minding the drape of the skirt to stay modest, presenting quite a test of core control and stamina. For poses extending a hand while seated on desks or the floor, I paid close attention to the elongation of arm lines so nothing felt stiff.
The classroom lighting was a gentle warm amber, casting soft reflections across the wooden floors and desks that formed a lovely contrast against the blue wardrobe, giving the raw files a naturally cozy warmth. The entire shoot went smoothly; though holding poses grew tiring, seeing the preview on the monitor made every ounce of effort worthwhile. Anime-style photography increasingly values emotional storytelling and ambient resonance, and I believe this set faithfully recreates that serene, Japanese-style campus mood.
