For this winter outfit Amiya look, from the costume and accessories to the makeup, a lot of thought went into the overall preparation to closely match the character's vibe in a winter setting. For the dress, I chose a black pinafore dress with subtle prints and bow elements, layered over a basic warm-white long-sleeved undershirt, and topped off with a thick white plush scarf. This ensures the character's features are accurately recreated while adding a seasonal warmth. To cope with the freezing shooting environment, I specially chose bunny-ear shaped plush earmuffs and vintage-style plush sleeves, paired with thick gray tights and fur-trimmed snow boots. The overall color scheme is dominated by black, white, and gray, which looks clean without being too thin visually.
The wig selected is a deep chestnut color, with the bangs and sideburns layered to frame the face. For the eyes, bright blue contact lenses were worn to echo the character setting from Arknights. The makeup eschewed large areas of rich colors, focusing more on a clean, translucent eye look and a well-defined facial structure. It emphasizes a spirited gaze, making the expression look natural yet without losing the refined touch of Anime cosplay.
Shooting outdoors at night in Chongqing, the temperature was actually already very low. The white breath exhaled during breaks between shots unexpectedly became a small embellishment that enhanced the live atmosphere. The photographer utilized a large aperture and medium-to-long focal length technique, blurring the warm yellow fairy lights on the Christmas tree behind me into dreamy circular bokeh, getting the night view's sense of depth and atmosphere just right. During the shoot, whether it was the cute pose of resting my chin on both hands while standing on a red iron bench, or making a playful salute while standing among the Christmas trees, I tried to show the character's qualities of being both mature and possessing an endearing charm. In particular, the close-up shot selected for the cover, where I am sitting on the chair, beautifully captured the plush texture of the scarf and sleeves, the pattern details of the costume, and the connection in the character's gaze.
During the collaboration with the photographer, we experimented with different high-angle and low-angle perspectives. The wide-angle high shot perfectly showcases the green grass on the ground, the circular track, and the surrounding Christmas tree arrangements, creating a panoramic feeling of being immersed in a winter fairy tale world. On the other hand, the low-angle shot highlights the character's slender silhouette and the vastness of the night sky. To balance the lighting ratio, some soft fill lights were also used on site to illuminate the subject, avoiding heavy shadows on the face. As an avid fan of cosplay photography for many years, I always find winter-themed shoots to be quite challenging. After all, maintaining a relaxed expression and an extended posture in the piercing cold wind is a test of both physical strength and willpower. Fortunately, the final photos completely reached expectations, having high character recognition while truly blending into the vibrant, everyday winter night streets of Chongqing.
