This time I challenged an Arknights Amiya Halloween vampire custom concept. To fit this theme, we found a studio with a pure white background in Shanghai for the shoot. The white background can highlight the red-and-black color blocking of the costume to the maximum extent. Moreover, compared to the outdoors, indoor studio shooting allows for more precise light control, making post-processing easier and helping the colors of props like pumpkins appear more saturated without being disturbed by ambient environmental light.
Speaking of this custom concept, quite a lot of thought actually went into the costume matching. We retained Amiya's iconic dark brown plush bunny ears, but incorporated rich gothic vampire elements into the overall style. The inner layer is a vintage white shirt with large-area lace-trimmed cuffs, layered outside with a long cape featuring a black exterior and bright red interior, which has a very imposing presence when walking. The red-and-black striped bow at the collar and the ruby accessory are the finishing touches, with a red rose pinned to the chest as well. For the lower body, I matched black shorts, a red-and-white diamond-patterned belt, along with black stockings, leather leg rings on the thighs, and platform lace-up martin boots. I wanted to retain a bit of Amiya's girliness while adding some vampire mystery and subtle sexiness. To echo the overall color tone, I also specially wore bright blue contact lenses and a blue plastic ring, serving as a small easter egg for myself.
The shooting process was actually quite interesting. In the beginning, holding various sizes of pumpkins, from sitting cross-legged to pretending to make the pumpkin levitate, I tried all kinds of lively poses. Later, hugging Amiya's iconic plush doll, that fluffy texture colliding with the vampire dark style maximized the contrast. Finally, picking up that silver greatsword, my entire aura instantly changed from a dazed cute bunny to a somewhat combat-capable vampire queen.
As a coser, I think pose guidance is very important. For example, when sitting cross-legged or with crossed legs, you need to pay attention to the placement of knees and ankles, utilizing the lines of boots and leg rings to shape the leg contours; when kneeling halfway to raise the sword, the center of gravity must be stable, the body leaning slightly forward with a sharp gaze, so as to capture that pent-up tension ready to burst. Moreover, because it's a pure white studio, even the slightest slouching or insufficiently extended posture will be very obvious, so core strength really needs to be kept tight at all times.
The experience of this shoot was exceptionally wonderful; the clean and pure nature of the white studio instead made our color design stand out more, instantly bringing out the Halloween atmosphere. If everyone wants to try this slightly dark yet cute style in the future, you can make more use of color blocking, such as red and black, and then accent it with high-saturation props like pumpkins, making the visual impact very strong. What does everyone think of this custom concept combining cuteness and coolness?
