The event photo delivery for this Chengdu CD30 anime convention is finally edited. I cosplayed Wishadel from Arknights. The lighting at the convention site was actually quite complex, with top lighting and various venue illuminations. Fortunately, the photographer knew how to find angles well, using the flash to darken the background and perfectly presenting the texture of this black glossy leather jacket.
The material of this outfit is quite picky about the shooting environment; reflective fabrics easily blur details under strong light, but this time, aided by the reflected light of a white blanket, the overall layering was preserved intact. The red and black stripes at the neckline and the hollow-out design with red text on the chest are the visual focus of the entire outfit. To restore the character's cold and stern temperament, I chose red-brown contact lenses, deepened the contouring in the eye makeup, and paired it with a red ribbon and the demon horns on the small top hat, maximizing the aggressiveness of the overall styling.
Taking care of the wig took a lot of effort. The silver-white stray hair needed to stay fluffy without looking too messy, and the slight curl at the hair ends happened to support the head's volume in front of the lens. In terms of props, the long whip is actually quite heavy. When holding it in hand to make movements, you need to master the wrist's exertion point, otherwise your arms will ache after shooting for a long time. The hollow-out design on the back is a brilliant part of this outfit, allowing the back lines to be fully displayed, but you also need to pay attention to the coordination of light positions during shooting; too bright and it's prone to overexposure, too dark and details are unclear.
The most troublesome part of shooting event photos is actually the coordination between shoes and poses. Although those black glossy chunky-heeled over-the-knee boots look extremely good on camera and greatly lengthen the visual proportion of the legs, they really tire your feet after wearing them for a long time. Therefore, a white blanket was prepared on-site, which was just right for relaxing the legs when shooting kneeling and sitting poses. The side-sitting pose in picture four utilized the boundary of the carpet and the reflection of the ground to showcase the leg lines and the upper body's clothing structure through diagonal composition.
To take satisfying event photo delivery pictures, we found several relatively quiet corners in the venue. When kneeling on the blanket to shoot, although the leather jacket had good elasticity, it was airtight, and after a session, the whole body was sweating. As a prop, the whip played a great visual extension role in some of the looking-back and half-squatting poses, preventing the frame from being too monotonous.
This anime convention not only allowed me to meet many fellow fans, but also many photographers carrying heavy equipment. The atmosphere of Chengdu CD30 was truly enthusiastic, and everyone treated their favorite characters with heart. Walking around the convention in this Wishadel outfit, I was often stopped for photos. Although I had to readjust the skirt hem and shoulder straps every time, being able to exchange outfit details and prop making with everyone made all the fatigue feel completely worth it.
The style of the entire photoshoot leans towards dark and cool, combining very naturally with the pavilion's industrial-style background. During post-processing color grading, the highlights were lowered slightly, the contrast of the dark areas was enhanced, making the leather jacket's glossy texture more prominent while retaining the brightness of the red elements. The meaning of event photos lies in recording the real weather, light, and people met on the convention day; although imperfect, it is very vivid.
