This time, I built this Genshin Impact Odette set in my private white European-style studio; the core concept was to craft an ethereal, deep-blue dreamscape within a pure white environment. The studio was draped with white sheer fabrics and floral arrangements, and I specifically moved in a ballet barre and a crystal chandelier. To harmonize with the character's persona, I also arranged a white grand piano and a birdcage. For lighting, I deployed wide-area cool blue tones to contrast against the white base of the studio, giving the subject a translucent, radiant glow when standing inside.
The costume is packed with fine details: a multi-tiered blue-and-white skirt, a crimson heart-shaped gem set into the chest, and golden ornaments accented with sapphires across the waist. The wig featured intricate braiding, while the wings and delicate horns on top lent a striking fantasy charm. For this set, I prepared two key props: a dagger and an antique vintage mirror. The sheer texture of the White stockings paired with golden high heels looked remarkably luxurious under the cool illumination.
During the shoot, I worked entirely at my own pace since I was my own photographer. After setting up the camera position and programming the timer shutter, I repeatedly refined my postures before the ballet barre. For the first frame, I chose a turn-and-glance over the shoulder; this pose truly tests back contours and leg proportions, so I went slightly onto tiptoe to sculpt the silhouette of the white stockings crisply. In the second front-facing open-arm pose, I spread both hands outward to fan out the dimensional layers of the skirt, making the blue-and-white palette pop under the cold light. For the dagger shot, I tested multiple angles before settling on a dynamic profile thrust, lowering my center of gravity and directing my gaze along the blade edge to inject visual tension. The mirror selfie was an impromptu idea where the reflective surface mirrored the front details of my body, creating delicate dimensional layers beneath the lights.
The beauty of shooting in a home studio is being able to tweak lighting and wardrobe whenever fatigue hits without racing against the clock. Across every outfit and movement sequence, I took care to control the micro-details, such as the swing arc of the arms and the drape of the fabric folds. Cool lighting severely tests skin rendering, so I ensured my foundation was exceptionally fair and dewy, focusing the eye makeup on contrasting the violet contact lenses. I am thoroughly satisfied with the final outcome—it captures a visual aesthetic both aloof and opulently magnificent.
The real challenge of this shoot was balancing the lighting with the poses. Cool blue light easily causes the subject to bleed into the backdrop, so I added two rim lights to sculpt the outer contours. For choreography, the ballet-inspired poses before the mirror demanded a straight, elongated core without slumping. From staging the set and changing outfits to posing and pressing the shutter, the entire process took about six hours. It was tiring, but seeing the finished photos made every moment feel completely worthwhile.
The pairing of White stockings and high heels was truly the crowning touch of this styling; since the upper gown is fairly elaborate, combining white stockings with gold heels elongated leg lines, preventing any visual bulkiness. The blue, white, and gold palette achieved seamless visual harmony, capturing both the authentic fantasy essence of the game and delivering high-texture, premium visual quality in this cosplay feature.
