Sorting through this set of photos, that lingering question kept echoing in my mind: "Will I ever make peace with who I was back then?" This time I cosplayed Odette from Genshin Impact, and holding these finished images brought a flood of contemplative feelings. This outfit had been sitting in my wardrobe for quite a while, waiting until I found the right headspace to shoot it. Putting these photos out today marks a sense of closure for this chapter.
Let's start with the styling and wardrobe. Odette's dress—with its cool blue-and-white palette and intricate gold trim—is visually stunning and icy. The navy blue bandeau bodice is woven with subtle diamond jacquard patterns, while the golden ruby embellishment at the waist serves as the focal anchor for the lower silhouette. For the wig, I selected long pastel-blue hair, deliberately shaping airy volume into the bangs and crown braids before affixing the white feathered wing headpiece with blue gemstones, instantly establishing dimensional depth. For makeup, light-blue contact lenses echoed the hair color, paired with a soft pinkish-red eye blend, prominent blush, and dewy lip gloss—designed deliberately to preserve a touch of human warmth within such an intensely cold-toned setting. On my legs, I wore dense, opaque pure White stockings paired with pointed white stiletto heels, which elongated my leg lines while maintaining complete tonal harmony.
The set was built inside a near-monochromatic white studio featuring grand laser-cut traceries, wrought-iron benches, white birdcages, and sprawling fields of blue and white blossoms. Because the environment was overwhelmingly white, we ran numerous lighting tests to avoid flat overexposure. The key light leaned cool through a large softbox, while side rim lights were positioned to carve out bodily contours—which is why the shoulders and edges of the White stockings in the photos exhibit such delicate, sculpted highlights. For props, the crystal candelabras and white roses were deliberately staged to fill visual voids and anchor the composition. For poses, I chose crossed legs on the bench, letting the skirt drape organically while one hand touched the headpiece and my gaze drifted into a vacant, vulnerable distance. The kneeling setup brought the camera close, placing a hand near my lips with an innocent gaze to emphasize the bodice embroidery and feathered sleeve cuffs.
When people speak of sensuality, it never hinges on how much skin is revealed, but rather on the tracing of silhouette lines and the dialogue between textures. The tactile interplay of White stockings against a plush white shag rug, gently catching the diffuse reflection of cool lighting between intertwined legs, evokes an understated visual allure that is far more captivating. For standing poses, I deliberately raised one arm to let the skirt ribbons fall naturally, planting the platform heels firmly into the rug to stretch out elongated, poised body lines.
Returning to the sentiment mentioned earlier: once people are gone, many unspoken words lose their purpose. After cosplaying for years, the line sometimes blurs between whether we are embodying a character or the character is holding a vessel for our own transient emotions. Shooting Odette this time was perhaps my way of borrowing this aloof, mildly tragic persona to bid farewell to fragments of the past. The camera preserved the light and captured that fleeting state of being; those words left unsaid perhaps remain hidden within the gaze of the frame, tucked between the folds of White stockings and blue silk skirts.
Wrapping up this shoot was physically draining, yet it felt as though a quiet corner of my heart had finally been soothed. Let's leave it at that.
