[Barbara Cosplay] Hangzhou Adventurer Comic Convention: An Idol Leading the Charge

The Convention photos from Hangzhou Adventurer Comic Convention are out! This time I met everyone at the venue in a Barbara Cosplay look, carrying a little yellow duck bag to lead the charge with high energy at the convention. Since I personally love her cheerful, healing character concept from Genshin Impact, I put a lot of thought into the costume and detail control for this shoot.

First, let's talk about the outfit itself. The blue-and-white color-blocked sailor dress is the core visual element of this look, with the large orange bow on the chest serving as an instantly recognizable bright accent. The blue stripes on the arm sleeves and the lace trim along the collar needed to be kept neat and smooth during shooting to achieve a crisp, clean effect. I especially want to mention the cross-body yellow duck bag—it's not only an important prop for character accuracy, but also became a finishing touch during Cosplay photography. The bright yellow pops out against the main blue and white scheme, making the color layering much richer and appearing exceptionally lively and cute under outdoor natural light.

As for the hair and makeup, I chose a light blonde wavy curly wig this time, carefully combing through the hair strands before wearing it to give the curled ends a naturally fluffy arc. The overall makeup focused on a clear, breathable look, with base makeup seamlessly matching my natural skin. The focus of the eye makeup was on the eyeliner, using a slightly flicked-up line to frame her energetic look, paired with a natural lip color so the whole vibe felt soft and approachable.

For this shoot, I collaborated with photographer Wulang, utilizing both indoor and outdoor spaces. The indoor set relied heavily on professional lighting at the venue; you can even see the Aputure light source in the background. This directional combination lighting beautifully contoured my silhouette indoors, making my skin look luminous and dimensional while giving the blue and white shades of the outfit a pure, refined texture, which added huge points to the overall quality.

Meanwhile, the outdoor scene was set beside a stone staircase railing with relief sculptures and intricate carvings, where sunlight served as the ideal light source. Direct natural light captured vivid highlights and crisp shadows without needing extra fill lights. In terms of posing, the photographer guided me to try dynamic movements like sitting on the steps with my head tilted down or hugging my knees while looking to the side. These natural body language cues captured her relaxed yet energetic convention vibe perfectly.

Matching the shoes was another clever touch in this look. Platform floral strappy sandals visually elongated the leg lines, while the details of blue straps and small white flowers echoed the entire color palette flawlessly. Of course, walking around the convention venue and standing for long periods in these shoes was definitely a test of stamina, but for the sake of complete visual composition and conveying the right atmosphere, these little challenges were totally worth it.

At this convention, I ran into many friends who recognized this look and greeted me warmly around the venue. This offline feedback is truly heartwarming and one of the best rewards of attending anime conventions.
