[Yae Miko Cosplay] Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine in Genshin Impact, On Duty Today

The details on this Genshin Impact Yae Miko cosplay outfit are truly extensive; adjusting the proportions of the golden hair crown and the purple Electro-patterned chest pendant alone took a substantial amount of time. A light-pink heat-resistant fiber Pink wig was selected. To achieve that fluffy, layered fennec-fox ear effect, I meticulously trimmed the curvature of the bangs and sideburns, slightly curling the hair tips so they appear more natural and dynamic in front of the camera. Makeup focused primarily on the eyes, utilizing purple-grey eyeshadow tones to mirror the character's iris color. The eyeliner was elongated and softly winged upward, paired with light-colored contacts, aiming to recreate that languid yet slyly clever gaze. Lip color was chosen as a matte brick-red shade so as not to steal focus from the eyes.

The costume is a refined red-and-white Japanese-style outfit. The white portion is crafted from jacquard fabric with subtle patterns, while red cuffs and linings feature matte satin that delivers lovely reflective texture in photos. Golden sakura motifs and purple gems on the armbands were custom-ordered separately; though possessing noticeable weight, wearing them instantly elevated overall outfit completeness. For the prop, I personally wrapped the long rod with red cordage and attached hand-cut zig-zag paper streamers at the end, which adds a sense of visual extension when posing.

During the shoot, we intentionally selected a traditional Japanese tatami room featuring crane-patterned shoji screens in the background and a blue-grey paper umbrella as Japanese-style elements that align seamlessly with the character's ambiance. However, due to the wide skirt hem of the outfit, extra care was needed to smooth out folds when sitting. Regarding lighting, we avoided harsh fill lights and instead deployed softboxes from the side, rendering facial shadows gentle while highlighting silk-like reflections along hair strands.

During Cosplay photography, three distinct postures were tested: Image 1 features a hand resting on the chest pendant with a slightly tucked chin for a bright, spirited look; Image 2 captures holding the prop rod with naturally extended arms for a stable visual structure; Image 3 shows a relaxed pose with fingers resting lightly under the jawline and eyes tilted upward—a perspective showcasing collar negative space and shoulder-neck contours for a loose, magnetic charm. Personally, Image 3 is my favorite because that subtle, casual gesture better fits the character's signature effortless poise.

From styling the Pink wig and adjusting accessories to finalizing all poses, the entire process took nearly three hours, yet seeing the final result made every minute worthwhile. Although recreating 2D characters always incorporates personal interpretation, I strove to stay as faithful to original Genshin Impact lore as possible in makeup, costume, and props, hoping to deliver a satisfying visual experience for fellow fans.
