I finally sorted out the finished photos for this Genshin Impact Varesa cosplay, with the overall color grading adopting a high-saturation pink palette. Pre-production preparations mainly focused on crafting the horns and wig. The long pink wig required layer-by-layer thinning, while the blue streaks were separately clipped in using hair extensions. The horns were hand-crafted from EVA foam, polished, and painted with pink-and-black patterns at the tips; to keep them stable and prevent them from being too heavy to wear, they were filled with lightweight material. The metallic hardware at the base of the horns was airbrushed, augmented with plush Animal ears and small bells. The fabric textures and color shades were repeatedly compared against the official design, keeping chromatic aberration minimal.
For the costume, the dark blue top utilized structured fabric that holds the three-dimensional volume of the chest bow and golden badge crisp and defined. The yellow sleeve covers used a lightweight, sheer fabric showcasing the arm lines, with cyan bow accents at the cuffs. The lower half features a pleated skirt made of sturdy material, paired with a wide pink belt and metal hardware with a nice matte texture. For makeup, purple colored contact lenses were paired with pinkish-purple eyeshadow and blue eyeliner. The cheeks featured white fang decals and cyan patterned tattoos—small details that enhance the character's distinctiveness. The nails were painted light blue, and the rings were specially chosen in cyan tones.
The leg styling was a core highlight of this look, wearing customized long leg warmers (White stockings styling) with pink heart and cyan color-block patchwork, featuring a large heart on the right leg. Matching the photographer's countdown, we tried several sets before capturing one with solid balance and a natural expression. The first half-body shot focused on transmitting gaze and temperament before a pink backdrop, letting catchlights brighten the pupils for vibrant energy.
In post-processing, the philosophy was preserving strong color contrast: pink hair, blue top, yellow sleeves, and dark blue skirt create an ideal focal point. The clean base was given subtle soft glow while deliberately retaining natural skin texture without excessive smoothing. For the dynamic second photo, leg contours were retouched naturally, and the sock color-blocking harmonized with the pink hair to balance the composition. Friends provided immense help throughout prep and shooting, especially with wardrobe changes and wig maintenance, which was genuinely exhausting. Because the movements were energetic, dynamic candid shots proved far more expressive than static standing poses to capture that canon spirited vibe. We tested multiple lighting angles and found frontal even light best showcased the intricate details. Paired with studio lighting, we experimented with focal lengths using a wide aperture to emphasize the subject and avoid background distractions. Due to lively movements, accessories like the bell jingled playfully during takes, becoming fun mood-lifters. Reviewing the finished set, the visual impact of the color palette turned out wonderfully.
