[Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail — The Fierce Power of the Raging Dragon

To match the character lore of Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae in Honkai: Star Rail, I wanted to convey a stern yet battle-ready state in this shoot. The setting of the Xianzhou High Elder requires a powerful aura, so for makeup and overall presence, I stayed as close as possible to a cold, sharp, and resolute demeanor. The focal point of the makeup and hair rests on pointed dragon ears and golden dragon horns, paired with red eye makeup to draw visual focus directly onto facial expressions.

Regarding the outfit, this cosplay design features intricate details. The upper body uses a white base layer combined with heavy silver metallic armor plates, creating a strong sense of realistic texture under dynamic lighting. The teal and gold trimmings on the shoulders and chest blend traditional aesthetic elegance with clean, modern lines. Black half-finger gloves paired with golden wrist guards showcase great hand tension during spear-swinging actions.

Weapon execution reached a high standard; the spear shaft has a red-to-blue gradient finish, while the golden spearhead serves as the primary visual highlight with its streamlined design. In the low-crouch stance shown in Figure 2, holding the spear horizontally behind the neck displays its full length and craftsmanship while enriching geometric composition.

We experimented with two distinct lighting atmospheres. The first was a solid warm orange backdrop, which worked exceptionally well for dark-toned fabrics and metallic armors, hardening armor contours under direct lighting. The explosive crouching starter stance in Figure 2 created a strong dynamic contrast between leg strength and trailing garment hems—a moment of tension captured brilliantly by the photographer. The second setup was an indoor Chinese-style scene in Figure 3, hung with numerous calligraphy scrolls and illuminated by warm yellow lanterns, creating an atmosphere of pre-battle reflection or spellcasting preparation. An inadvertent staff member entering the right side of the frame added a touch of genuine off-camera realism.

The lower pants and boots feature extended geometric patterns, while gold piping along the boot soles paired with black-and-white tones visually elongates leg proportions. Tassels in red, blue, and green at the waist leave striking motion trails during turns or large movements. The massive blue-and-gold fabric drape on the back added complexity; without careful folding and adjustments before every static pose, it risked looking bulky.

Embodying a Xianzhou character is more than wearing an outfit; it requires feeling the solemn duty of 'purging evil.' As set for this shoot, broad smiles were set aside in favor of focused eyes and an upright posture. Solid cosplay photography, strong makeup foundation, and refined post-processing make the visuals convincing. Working seamlessly with my photographer and support team made capturing the cold strength and majesty of this High Elder across varied backdrops a deeply fulfilling experience.
