This summer outdoor location was chosen on a sun-drenched beach. To match Robin's swimsuit styling, a lot of effort went into the preliminary preparations. This swimsuit features a blue-and-white color scheme with fully maximized details. The dark blue crisscross straps and silver starfish decorations on the chest, coupled with large white and yellow plumeria flowers on the skirt hem, gave off a strong summer island vibe the moment I held it in my hands. To present the best state, I repeatedly adjusted the position of the straps during pre-shoot fittings to ensure the curves presented in front of the lens were both natural and aesthetic, while the tulle ribbons of the skirt hem were also delicately ironed to guarantee they would flutter gracefully when the wind blew.
To prevent glare on the beach, the makeup specially adopted a matte-textured high-coverage foundation, and the eye makeup intensified the smudging of reddish eyeshadow, matched with blue contact lenses, creating very vivid color contrast under the sunlight. The wig underwent extensive gradient processing, and the pale purple at the hair ends produces a great effect under strong light. The cross-star metal headpiece on top of the head was fixed with a thin rod; during the shoot, for stability, quite a few bobby pins and a hair net were added inside, so even with strong sea breezes, there was no fear of it falling off. The matching of the choker and necklace also referred to the feel of the original design, trying to achieve restoration down to the details.
The microphone prop in hand was a high-priority protected object. The beach had strong wind and sand, and the sea breeze also carried salt; fortunately, the prop surface was treated with a matte coating, and during shooting breaks, I kept it enclosed in a sealed bag to prevent fine sand from getting stuck in the gaps. The white wings and golden letter decorations on the microphone were relatively fragile, so I needed to be especially careful with the center of gravity when holding it to avoid dropping and breaking it due to a slippery hand.
During photography, because the reflection from the beach was very strong, it was easy to make the face look flat, so I tried my best to utilize lounge chairs or elevation differences on the beach to find some layered side lighting. For example, in the shot lying on the rattan lounge chair, crossing the legs not only elongated the visual proportions but also naturally displayed the details of the pink strap sandals, making the leg lines look smoother. Using a blue-and-white striped swim ring as a foreground was also a great idea, increasing the richness of the frame. At the same time, leaning the body slightly on the lounge chair with shoulders lowered highlighted the upper body curves wonderfully.
Although playing in the water and taking photos is fun, sun protection is definitely of utmost importance. Waterproof sunscreen with a high SPF was applied all over, and during breaks when not in front of the lens, a sun umbrella and spray bottle never left my hands; otherwise, it would be very easy to get sunburned or develop uneven skin tones, affecting the post-production output results. This set of Robin's summer swimsuit, both in color and texture, perfectly matches my imagination for this character. Standing by the seaside in the breeze with a microphone in hand, it felt as if I could truly sing out a melody belonging to summer; this immersive shooting experience was truly fantastic.
