This Lantern Rite-themed Hu Tao location shoot actually took a lot of thought from planning to the final photos. Combining traditional Lantern Rite elements with Hu Tao's own red-toned outfit, I deliberately toned down the cool colors of the background in post-processing to give the golden maple leaves and warm light sources a stronger framing effect in the images. The shoot was actually quite a test for facial expression management, as I had to hold a large golden sycee while maintaining the character's playfulness. The white sailor hat, goggles, and twintails look, paired with this plush rug and wooden furniture in the real-scene studio, made the composition very rich.

The props team prepared everything very thoughtfully; the spring couplets and golden sycees perfectly echoed Hu Tao's line, "May every year bring fulfillment to your wishes." The photographer, Xinchen, used a very clean lighting technique for this setup, ensuring shadows didn't eat away the costume details, especially preserving the layers of the red jacket and black striped collar beautifully. Doing my own photo retouching, I prefer to preserve skin texture while letting the red hair tips have a bit of flowing highlight. In post-processing, besides color tone unification, I also paid special attention to sharpening the texture of the frame to make the wig and clothing fibers look clearer and more realistic.

The Lantern Festival itself is a time for reunion. Bringing Hu Tao from the game into reality at this juncture feels quite ceremonial. The patchwork tailoring of the costume and the white sailor collar—every detail actually required patient adjustment in front of the lens. Cooperation with the photographer during the shoot was also essential; we tried different angles just to find Hu Tao's agile and lively side. For mastering the character's expressions, I referenced Hu Tao's expressions and behavioral habits in the game, striving to recreate her personality traits as part of this Cosplay photography project. I hope this set of photos, carrying New Year blessings, can let everyone feel the lively festive spirit of the Lantern Rite and pass this good luck along.
