This photoshoot featuring March 7th's "Chips of a Thousand Stars" styling from Honkai: Star Rail took an immense amount of effort, from set design to lighting. To evoke a sci-fi and industrial wasteland visual aesthetic during this Cyberpunk studio photoshoot, we built a backdrop using silver reflective materials in the studio, adding yellow metal chains, silver corrugated ventilation ducts, and a disco ball as decorative touches. The lighting engineer finalized a scheme dominated by cyan-blue tones; cool-toned light hitting the reflective materials generated strong diffuse reflections and high contrast, instantly pushing the ambiance of the entire frame to the maximum.
Regarding character styling, I wore a light pink shoulder-length bob wig with trimmed wispy bangs to give the hairstyle distinct layers. Because studio blue light can easily make makeup look muddy or dull, I deliberately deepened the eye contours, wore vivid bright blue contact lenses, and paired them with high-saturation red lips to ensure facial features remained sharp and three-dimensional under cool light sources. The black metal buckle choker around my neck and the fingerless gloves were critical details of this outfit, accentuating the character's sharp and rebellious edge. The upper body ensemble was crisply layered: a white shirt under an overcoat with a blue-and-white color-blocked sailor collar, featuring broad cuffs with strap ties that fluttered gracefully with every motion, perfectly embodying a Sailor uniform girl in Anime cosplay. The oversized light-blue bow at the waist contrasted nicely with the black leather belt, while the lower body's blue pleated skirt paired with white crew socks and black platform loafers preserved a girl's youthful playfulness while injecting dynamic energy.
Throughout the shoot, to align closer with the character's personality, I constantly held and played with that bright blue square camera. It served not only as a prop, but also as a natural anchor for adjusting hand poses. In designing my movements, I deliberately explored poses that flattered bodily lines. For example, when sitting sideways, naturally extending one leg forward utilized the drape of the pleated skirt to highlight leg proportions; when crouching, to maintain balance, I bent one knee, raised the camera in one hand, and made a V-sign with the other. The photographer matched this with a slightly low-angle perspective, which not only made the subject the clear visual focal point of the frame, but also effectively showcased leg lines and the garment's tailoring.
Shooting in a cool-toned environment actually places strict demands on skin texture; to prevent the face from looking grayish or washed out, we adjusted the frontal fill lighting multiple times. Ultimately, through precise control of the key light, we kept the face luminous and translucent while preserving the chilling, crisp texture of the background's reflective surfaces. Although the entire shoot required frequent posture adjustments and was physically demanding, seeing the play of light and shadow and compositional tension in the final images made all the hard work feel completely worthwhile, giving me a deeper appreciation for this March 7th cosplay look.
