[Ptilopsis cosplay] Arknights 'Tranquil Cloud': Serene Moments in a Traditional Chinese Courtyard

Today I'm excited to share the behind-the-scenes journey of this Ptilopsis 'Tranquil Cloud' cosplay shoot. Ever since this outfit's original splash art was released, I fell in love with it—that exquisite design seamlessly harmonizing futuristic sci-fi elements with classical Chinese elegance truly captivated me. To recreate that weightless, airy grace, we spent a long time testing textiles, and the resulting sheer chiffon fluttered gorgeously in the gentle breeze.

Starting with the hair and makeup: Ptilopsis's blunt bangs on straight silver hair were quite a challenge. To prevent the wig from looking stiff or lifeless, I spent hours using a flat iron to fine-tune the direction of every strand, and reinforced the black wing-like headpiece on top with hot glue so it would stay crisply upright from any angle. For the eye makeup, I deliberately deepened the red shading at the outer corners of the eyes, paired with her signature red lips, aiming to recreate her characteristically stoic, subtly robotic yet endearing and slightly dazed expression.

Our chosen shooting location was a traditional Chinese courtyard, where the carved wooden latticed windows and cherry blossoms in the background made a breathtaking combination. During the shoot, I paid special attention to utilizing the flowing ribbons and sheer chiffon to create a sense of motion. For instance, sitting on the wooden daybed draped in a white plush faux-fur throw, letting the sheer fabric drape down naturally not only enriched the composition's layers, but also beautifully framed the lines of my legs. I must highlight the White stockings worn here: while stunning, sliding around on the lacquered wooden surface was a serious test of core strength; holding an elegant, poised posture required constant tension. The stockings featured delicate jacquard floral motifs that subtly shifted under the lighting, which was one of my favorite little details.

The photographer used soft rim lighting from a side-backlight angle, cleanly tracing my silhouette and making my pale skin and silver locks appear luminous and translucent. For prop interactions, beyond sitting poised to sip tea, I casually brushed my fingers against the strings of a guqin, keeping body language relaxed and organic. Befitting Ptilopsis's lore, I avoided broad smiles in my facial expressions, focusing instead on a serene, focused, and slightly detached, zoned-out gaze that resonated with her quiet demeanor. While enduring the heavy fur throws and elaborate layers in the heat was tiring, the moment I saw the final cuts, all the exhaustion melted away completely.
