Bringing together a White dress and Blonde twin tails really tested both makeup execution and outfit styling at the Anime convention. Luckily, the lighting that day was cooperative, and the resulting photos turned out great. The core focus this time was completely on capturing that idol-like presence worthy of a Muse.
For the wig, getting the neat straight bangs right took considerable effort; I had to layer styling spray multiple times to lock in the curve. Tying the twin tails also demanded patience to maintain symmetry on both sides and keep flyaway strands to a minimum. Blonde hair can be very unforgiving under different lighting, so I chose a matte warm gold that wouldn't cause harsh glare in outdoor convention light.
Regarding makeup, since the large-diameter blue contacts are quite striking, I dialed back the complexity of the eyeshadow and focused on the eyeliner, giving it a subtle upward flick. A bit of soft smudging on the lower lash line paired with pink blush gave the skin a luminous, translucent finish. Finally, applying a glossy lip tint worked wonders under the bright sunlight, keeping my lips looking fresh and hydrated rather than dry.
The White dress features rich layers, with the star brooch on the chest and the blue-and-white striped ribbon serving as eye-catching highlights. The pleats of the skirt create dynamic light and shadow when moving, which makes thoughtful posing essential. Because the skirt trail is relatively long, I had to watch my step carefully to avoid tripping. Another challenge with a white dress is keeping it clean in crowded spaces, so I actively steered clear of high-traffic bottlenecks. While the boots had some weight to them, they elongated my leg lines and grounded the entire look.
During the shoot, I went with a V-sign in the first photo, angling my face slightly while looking straight at the camera to keep things lively. In the second photo, I turned slightly and crossed my legs, a pose that allows the skirt to flow naturally while making the legs look slender. Passersby and railings in the background unexpectedly added authentic convention vibes.
Embodying a Muse, while the character often shines brightest on stage, my goal was to convey radiant energy and confidence directly through the lens. From the expression in my eyes to the curl of my smile, everything had to harmonize with the costume. Every glance, every gesture, and every turn was another way to re-interpret the character.
Even though the outdoor sun at the Anime convention was intense, that natural sunlight made the white fabrics and golden hair look crisp and pure. Constantly adjusting angles to catch that perfect moment left my back a bit sore by the end of the day, but seeing the final shots made all the fatigue vanish. Removing makeup and packing up costumes is always a chore, yet as an enthusiast, the entire journey is part of the joy. Seeing that subtle smile in the pictures makes every bit of hard work worthwhile. Conventions are exhausting yet thrilling, and I cannot wait to shoot more great sets at upcoming venues.
