Preparing this Athena look turned out to be far more complex than anticipated. From the gradient highlights on the wig to polishing the fine details on the golden corset belt, everything demanded precise execution. The wig needed natural volume that wouldn't collapse or get messy during high-intensity walking around the convention floor. The golden tiara and metal neck collar looked stunning, yet wearing them for hours put noticeable pressure on my head and neck—a true test of stamina and patience. To embody a divine deity combining solemn majesty with gentle warmth, I went with cool tones for the makeup: light green contact lenses gave the eyes a translucent quality, complemented by natural soft pink lips.
Regarding props, the towering golden staff—taller than myself—was the greatest challenge. Its head features an intricate openwork circular design, so to ease the strain of holding it, I wrapped white cloth around the grip as cushioning; the trailing fabric drapes naturally, introducing graceful flowing lines to the composition. Crowds at the anime convention were extremely dense, so to find a clean background, we moved to a relatively secluded indoor garage area. While dimly lit, overhead spotlights allowed us to darken the ambient shadows, using high contrast to emphasize the reflective sheen of the metallic props against the pure white gown.
Initial attempts to swing the staff and twirl to let the gown billow kept falling flat—the lightweight fabric tended to cling to my legs in the breeze. Eventually, timing fluid throws with sideways turns and catching burst shots powered by my waist produced the desired motion. The outfit follows a minimalist Grecian silhouette; although the gown is light, to elongate leg lines and enhance proportions, I wore clear high-heeled sandals, which extended my height visually while enduring long periods of standing during Anime-style photography.
Close-up shots tested facial expression control, demanding that I block out surrounding noise, focus past the lens, and visualize overlooking a battlefield. To convey the nuanced balance between divinity and maternal grace, I kept rehearsing character scenes mentally to project an aura of gentle resolve. During pauses, I constantly checked the viewfinder with the photographer to ensure body curves and prop angles aligned harmoniously.
The gemstone inlays and relief carvings on the corset belt were essential to elevating the overall texture. Achieving a snug fit required cinching the waist tightly, and while breathing felt constrained, delivering an immaculate silhouette on camera made it worthwhile. The entire shoot took nearly two hours from lighting tests to pose adjustments, accompanied by greetings from fellow Saint Seiya fans along the way. Despite physical exhaustion, seeing the finished Convention photos made every ounce of effort count. This photo set serves as a fitting wrap-up to the convention journey, and I hope it conveys the character's presence effectively.
