[Shu cosplay] Pastoral Vibe of Arknights, Shooting Photos with a Ball-jointed Doll

This outfit and makeup for Arknights Shu, along with the matching Ball-jointed doll by my side, finally all came together in time for this shoot. Following the set color scheme, the main theme utilized a bold color-blocking combination of bright yellow, white, and pinkish-purple. The preparation process was actually much more time-consuming than expected, especially handling the wig.

The hairstyle was a major focus: a yellow-and-white gradient base with a splash of blue at the tips, braided on the side into a substantial thick braid. To keep this braid fluffy and textured in front of the camera, I used thin metal wire inside as a skeleton, then hand-fixed pearls matching the outfit one by one with thread between the braid gaps. This way, even when turning or lowering my head, these decorations wouldn't disrupt the overall hairstyle structure. Another major undertaking was customizing the Ball-jointed doll in my hand. It was originally a standard blank head; I resculpted its features, rooted a yellow-and-blue gradient wig matching the main outfit's palette, and made a small hat to go with its lace dress, complete with tiny white leather shoes, aligning with the original character in detail as much as possible.

Speaking of makeup, to make facial features look more three-dimensional on camera, I tried slightly exaggerated lake-blue contact lenses paired with slightly wider eyeliner, with light brown and bright yellow eyeshadow softly blended at the outer corners to make my gaze bright yet gentle. The fitting of the Elf ear makeup and styling prosthetics was handled naturally; as long as one doesn't inspect closely under intense light, the transition is rendered quite well. The yellow choker around my neck features a white bow-style buckle that happens to cover the hairline transition area of the wig, looking visually tidier.

Regarding outfit styling, the inner top was a yellow camisole with delicate white lace edging at the neckline, covered outside with a larger area of white hollow lace decoration. On my arms, I wore striking oversized pink sleeves and mustard yellow gloves, with blue and red lines on the gloves providing great accents and adding depth to the attire. The lower half was paired with dark, slightly glossy leggings so that while the upper body was colorfully rich, the dark tone below provided visual restraint and sleek line aesthetics, elongating overall body proportions.

For this photo set, I specially set up light blue curtains indoors as a background to create a refreshing atmosphere in this Anime-style photography. The composition of the second photo satisfied me most, using a high top-down angle so that it brought out the doll prop while displaying the top and thigh area of the leggings completely in the frame, showcasing the overall outfit's coordination. To shoot natural poses, I had to repeatedly check the lens framing, adjust aperture and ISO, and start over when hand movements were slightly off. A small mishap during shooting was that the doll slipped easily from my hand due to its smooth surface while I was supporting my body to pose, making me worry I might drop it. Fortunately, the shoot went smoothly in the end, and the final results met expectations. Although the shoulder section of this costume pinched a bit, making such sacrifices to recreate the character's aura was well worth it.
