[Firefly cosplay] Fan-made design elf look, an arrow shot to you in Star Rail

This fan-made design outfit for Firefly stayed on my schedule for a long time. Compared to the mecha and battle settings in the game's lore, I wanted to create a softer, more intimate side of her after stepping away from the battlefield. Thus, I chose airy white, pale cyan, and light pink as the main color palette. The wig features silver-white hair fading into ice cyan at the tips, visually echoing the large semi-transparent blue-green butterfly wings behind me. Material-wise, I selected a lot of chiffon and lace, paired with a plaid-textured corset around the waist, striving to retain a hint of fantasy texture within an ethereal look.

The weather on the day of the convention photos shoot was overcast—this soft light was actually ideal for outdoor photography, avoiding the harsh over-sharpening caused by direct sunlight. This outdoor plaza had plenty of green trees, which perfectly matched my flower vine staff and the floral branches on my headpiece. The staff was something I handcrafted beforehand using dried flowers, artificial leaves, and raw wooden branches; the surface retained a rough wood-grain texture, creating a nice contrast with the lightweight chiffon fabric in hand. In the first photo, I raised one hand in a bow-drawing pose, paired with the caption "Did this arrow shoot through your heart?", creating a strong interactive feel that breaks away from plain standing poses. The angle of gazing straight into the camera better conveys the character's confidence and agility. The composition of the first photo places the subject right in the center, making full use of the wings' tension with appropriate margins, no watermarks, or photo collages, making it most suitable as a cover image.

The second picture, with eyes closed and head slightly tilted down, returns to tranquility; both hands gently lift the skirt, revealing the floral patchwork and drape of the hemline. Compared to the dynamic vibe of the first shot, this one feels more like a moment of rest after battle. As a cosplayer, I am always trying to incorporate my personal aesthetic understanding of a character's appearance within the framework of official settings. Although this is a fan-made design cosplay, I still stayed true to Firefly's character impression in Honkai: Star Rail through patterns and color choices—especially that shade of pale blue, representing the purity of the Stellaron intertwined with fate. Though the wings on my back look transparent in photos, the material is framed hard mesh netting that actually takes up quite a bit of space, requiring extreme care when moving around. Luckily, the dress is loose enough not to hinder bigger movements during the outdoor shoot.

The main difficulty of this shoot was controlling the wind; although chiffon is airy and flowing, if the wind is too strong, it easily messes up the hairstyle or blocks the outline of the wings. The photographer and I tried multiple snapshot attempts before achieving these two shots where both wing shapes and chiffon dress movements appear relatively natural. Beyond Firefly's setting, this outdoor shoot also integrated common elements from anime aesthetics like elves and fairies, serving as an attempt at style fusion. The hand-sewn delicate flowers and lily-of-the-valley charms on the costume, paired with elegant silver chains, lack excessive metallic feel—delivering pure spring ambience and dreaminess. I hope viewers can feel through these images the girl I envision chasing light across the starry sky: light, serene, yet resilient.
