This Azur Lane Cheshire Cosplay photoshoot was finally completed smoothly. Preparing this costume took quite a lot of thought—from trimming and styling the wig to organizing the layered lace and ruffles on the dress piece by piece. The blue ribbons on the headpiece and the golden crest details on the chest were checked repeatedly before shooting to ensure they remained in peak condition in front of the lens. Because the character of Cheshire inherently possesses both a playful and elegant nature, I deliberately emphasized blue tones in my eye makeup, paired with colored contact lenses to make my eyes look even more spirited in this Anime-style photography project.
Setting up the photoshoot location was the highlight of this production. To harmonize with the overall dreamlike atmosphere, extensive blue and purple draped gauze was hung as a backdrop, complemented by a specially constructed white wooden easel flanked by crystal candelabras and blue-and-white rose floral arrangements. The floor was laid with metallic-sheen blue reflective fabric, which, together with overhead bead curtains and a crystal chandelier, made the entire room resemble a frost-covered dream garden. However, shooting in such a complex lighting environment tested our lighting control; balancing the key light with overhead warm fill light required frequent communication with the photographer regarding lighting ratios to prevent facial shadows from appearing overly harsh.
In terms of styling, the white dress skirt was wonderfully voluminous, and combined with deep blue lace arm sleeves, created rich visual depth. To present optimal visual appeal, I chose white pantyhose (White stockings) paired with white high heels, which not only elongated my leg lines but also resonated with the light-colored aesthetic of the ensemble. When sitting on the edge of the raised platform, figuring out how to position my legs to flatter the skirt's curvature while retaining an allure was a point we adjusted repeatedly on set. I tried tiptoeing on the floor or lightly crossing my legs to project a languid yet noble posture.
Throughout the shoot, the photographer continuously guided me through various poses: turning slightly sideways beside the easel, or resting my chin on one hand while seated in a white carved chair, maintaining a gaze that was both confident and gently mysterious. Since the scene contained numerous elements, composition had to avoid clutter, actively utilizing foreground flowers or candelabras to enhance depth of field. Prop interaction was equally crucial—lightly touching my cheek or extending a hand toward the camera gave the photos a stronger narrative feel.
During post-processing, to align with this icy and dreamlike theme, color grading favored cool-toned blue-purple hues, suitably lowering color temperature while boosting highlight brightness. Subtle starlight sparkle effects were also introduced to deepen the atmospheric mood. Although retouching was intricate—handling the translucent texture of the draped gauze and the flare spots on the reflective fabric—seeing the final result made all the early preparation completely worth it. This series marks a fresh creative attempt in harmonizing wardrobe and scenery, and I hope everyone enjoys this style.
