[Xishi cosplay] White and Blue Dragon Maiden Convention Photo: Embracing a Cool and Aloof Style

The photoshoot plan for this Xishi look focused on effectively conveying a cool and aloof style and interacting with the dragon prism prop. To capture clean, crisp shots amidst the messy lighting of a bustling convention venue, I dedicated extensive effort during the prep phase. The translucent dragon horns look light and airy, but securing them into the hair took considerable work; paired with the ultra-long heat-resistant wig, wearing them while walking around all afternoon left my neck aching severely. The white-and-blue palette of the costume is very vulnerable to environmental dust, so I stayed seated as much as possible to avoid unnecessary wear and tear from moving around.

In terms of makeup, to capture that unearthly, detached aura, the eye makeup utilized multi-layered purplish-red gradients with elongated outer corners. Combined with blue contact lenses, it appeared crystal clear over the mall's reflective floor. The lip makeup was kept subtle, and even the base makeup leaned cool-toned to maintain strict chromatic harmony across the styling.

The biggest uncertainty of convention photos is navigating the venue and foot traffic. Choosing this reflective floor was a delightful surprise, as it added great depth and layering to the shots. In the first photo, I sat cross-legged, cradling the dragon prism in my right hand—symbolizing "The dragon prism as my vow." Holding the sphere required precise control over palm tension and finger placement to avoid harsh specular glares while making it look authentically weighted. To nail this angle, my arm hovered mid-air until it trembled with fatigue.

When shooting the curled-up pose in the second photo, finding the center of gravity was tricky, relying entirely on core and leg strength. Being barefoot, the point and arch of my instep directly dictated the grace of the leg lines. The mall floor was biting cold, but to align with the photographer's lighting angles, I had to hold the pose steadily. The airy fabric of the skirt and leg covers created unique reflections on the glossy floor, with subtle calf shifts shifting the light and shadow dynamically.

Due to the loud environment and dense crowds, great angles had to be seized spontaneously, making the shoot very fast-paced. Additionally, barefoot skin tone preparation had to be managed beforehand; to convey effortless skirt draping and natural foot extension, I tested various leg angles and adjusted my center of gravity to prevent muscle stiffness from prolonged frozen poses.

The finished photos exceeded expectations, delivering wonderful clarity and a captivating cool and aloof style. I am very satisfied with the fidelity of this Xishi cosplay, especially the dragon prism prop, which produced surprisingly exquisite reflections. For color harmony, post-processing leaned into cool tones to make the aquatic blue elements pop gracefully.
