[Cartethyia cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Chongqing Dreamland ACG Expo 20 Convention photo Archive

The Convention photo set from Chongqing Dreamland ACG Expo 20 has finally been compiled! This time, I cosplayed the character Cartethyia from Wuthering Waves. The photographer was Teacher Xingqi; our collaboration was delightful, and the finished photos fully met my expectations. This Cartethyia cosplay attire packed immense visual impact on the convention floor: the skirt features an asymmetrical cut, with broad black-and-white color blocking complemented by blue gradient tassels. Walking made the hem billow gracefully, channeling the character's dynamic agility. To present the best body proportions, I deliberately paired it with white platform high-heeled sandals, elongating my leg lines nicely. The white ribbons tied around my thigh and the golden cross ornament were also finishing touches of the styling, though walking around the comic convention required constant vigilance not to trip over them.

As for props, the scale of this greatsword was quite substantial. The white edges along the blade and the golden crossguard were crafted with exquisite detail. Wielding it required both hands, and when posing with swings or supporting the blade, wrist and arm exertion became critical. For the best photo outcome, I tried to relax my shoulders as much as possible while holding the sword to avoid looking stiff. Many friends came over to snap joint photos and selfies; everyone was so warm and welcoming, and I was thrilled to share my love for the character with everyone. The elf ears and branch-shaped headpiece were secured directly onto the wig; I spent nearly an hour in the morning fine-tuning their positions to ensure no rigging was exposed from any camera angle. The wig featured classic long straight golden hair with side braids, boasting great texture that didn't look messy even under harsh lighting.

The lighting at the convention was actually quite tricky with numerous ceiling fixtures. Photographer Xingqi scouted several dimmer backdrops and used speedlights for fill light, carving out the subject's silhouette within the moody environment. We explored diverse backdrops inside the hall, such as black chairs and empty corridors, coordinating them with varied poses—sitting, standing, and holding the blade in profile—to showcase every facet of the styling. The venue for Chongqing Dreamland ACG Expo 20 was massive, and walking all day was quite exhausting, but seeing the final photos made every step worth it. Both the tailoring of the attire and the tactile presence of the props achieved the envisioned outcome in front of the lens. The 21st expo is starting soon, and I am already preparing new character looks, hoping to bring everyone more great creations.
