[Jeanne d'Arc (Alter) cosplay] Dark Gothic Qipao style: Sharpness and elegance combined

This shoot infused Jeanne d'Arc (Alter)'s design into a Qipao cut, following an overall Dark style aesthetic. The outfit utilizes black fabric with red piping, complemented by a chest keyhole cutout and black chain accents, preserving her sharp edge while adding a vintage touch. The black horn headpieces paired with long silver-white hair faithfully recreate the character's visual design. The set was dressed with a leather sofa and dried flowers, where the moody, dark ambiance served as an ideal backdrop to convey her cold elegance.

To match the haughty demeanor, the makeup emphasized winged eyeliner and reddish contact lenses, finished with a textured, deep dark red lipstick. In terms of photography, this set focused on balancing full-body and waist-up compositions, with the full-body shots emphasizing the sleek contour of the legs. I specifically paired the outfit with semi-sheer lace-trimmed thigh-high black stockings and stiletto heels; the pointed-toe design elongated leg proportions wonderfully. To highlight the tailoring of the Qipao, we experimented with various sitting and standing postures before settling on the crossed-leg pose, which displays both the chest cutout design and the texture of the black stockings simultaneously.

For post-processing, effort was mainly directed toward light-shadow contrast and the dynamic rendering of the hair. Since the original environment was relatively dim, locally dodging highlights on the face, legs, and black stockings enhanced the overall translucency. Glowing strand effects were applied to the hair to create an ethereal, airy visual feel, lending dynamic energy to static frames. The silver-white strands formed a striking visual contrast against the black-and-red costume. Given the numerous details—such as the chains and chest patterns—saturation and contrast were fine-tuned multiple times during editing. Balancing the heavy, imposing presence of the character with the feminine grace of the Qipao took deliberate care throughout shooting and retouching. Overall, blending an anime character with traditional Chinese elements yielded a satisfying result; the black-and-red Qipao delivers immense commanding presence, producing a highly polished finished piece.
