The venue at Chengdu CD30 was as cavernous as ever, where towering metal trusses and reflective flooring posed plenty of challenges for photography. Portraying Aemeath from Wuthering Waves this time, the entire ensemble carried considerable weight. The white skin-tight bodysuit required an exacting, glove-like fit to project sleek combat sharpness; the star emblem on the chest and blue droplet prints were applied with careful alignment. The black choker paired with a gold pendant offered a chilling touch of metal whenever I turned my head. Styling the wig took substantial prep: the star-shaped and fin-like headpieces on the crown required repeated pinning, as the slightest tilt threw off head proportions, while the bangs were locked down with hairspray to prevent them from sticking to my face while navigating the hall.

For cosmetics, reddish-brown contact lenses faithfully matched the character's gaze. The eye makeup was lengthened at the outer corners, harmonizing with dense false lashes to ensure the eyes popped vibrantly beneath harsh overhead convention lights. A soft pink lip kept the visage clean—since the costume itself is packed with intricate detailing, keeping facial makeup restrained worked best.

When shooting this series of convention captures, I tested varied movements to showcase the full silhouette of the garment and armored lines. Posing with finger-gun gestures demanded sharp posture across the shoulders and neck, which happened to frame the teal-striped armlets on the upper arms perfectly. To accentuate the boots and leg rings, I alternated between seated stances and wide striding postures. Balancing atop tall white heeled boots across polished flooring meant tightening my core and anchoring weight onto the balls of my feet. The cape's blue-purple-pink gradient fluttered with movement, taking several burst captures to seize the most flattering billow of fabric.

Convention floor lighting can be notoriously chaotic, so the photographer leaned into background separation to isolate the subject, using wide apertures to melt distant exhibition booths and crowds into soft blur, ensuring the white suit stayed pristine in frame. The blade of the prop weapon carried a cyan finish and substantial heft; keeping it steady while raised in one hand kept shoulder and arm muscles taut, leaving my wrists aching after every sequence.

Walking the floor in tall heels all day was undoubtedly exhausting, but reviewing the raw frames on the camera screen—seeing the tactile finish of the garments and intricate wig styling captured intact—made every minute of adjustment feel entirely worthwhile. Aemeath's design carries immense visual identity, and translating that striking presence into cosplay records was a deeply satisfying experience.
