Slipping into this Lunar New Year Qipao of Cheshire from Azur Lane, I stepped onto a traditional Chinese studio set to kick off the new year's very first photoshoot. The theme was thoroughly fitting for the season, overflowing with festive Spring Festival atmosphere from costumes to props.

Let's delve into the costume details. This Qipao incorporates numerous anime-style modifications on traditional elements: centered around red and black tones, the chest area features semi-sheer black fabric splicing adorned with exquisite golden embroidery patterns, adding a mature touch while preserving the character's core demeanor. The accompanying white plush shawl provides warmth while introducing fluffy cuteness, balancing the halter-neck silhouette visually. The centerpiece of the styling is undoubtedly the gartered white stockings paired with a thigh band, which not only elongates leg lines, but also injects a subtle touch of alluring design into the dignified New Year attire.

We prepared an abundant variety of props on shooting day. The studio was arranged with carved wooden daybeds, red paper fans, faux peach blossom branches, glowing ring lights in the background, and a massive "Fu" character sticker. I explored five distinct poses to enrich the visual narrative of the set.

For the first look, I sat on the plush floor mat, lightly adjusting the cat-ear headpiece with red tassels on my head for a relaxed, lively vibe. The shot chosen for the cover—the second photo—features me holding a giant golden ingot filled with shimmering coin props in both hands. This framing aligns seamlessly with the New Year theme: leaning forward slightly showcases the layered neckline and chest embroidery, while the seated stance elongates leg lines. The vivid contrast between the white stockings and the short red dress anchors visual focus squarely in the center, making it ideal as the leading image.

Next, I switched up styles: holding a skewer of candied hawthorns (tanghulu) with a sweet smile to evoke the feeling of strolling through a festive temple fair; lying sideways across the wooden daybed with legs crossed holding a red folding fan to display an unhurried, elegant side that melted into the calligraphy scrolls in the background; and kneeling on the rug holding up two red envelopes with a radiant smile to deliver fortune and joy.

Studio lighting demanded high precision. With bold contrasts across white, red, and black, harsh light would crush shadow detail, while overly soft light would flatten the texture of plush fur and White stockings cosplay. The photographer cast warm, soft frontal fill while adding ring rim lighting from behind, creating dimensional clarity on facial features while giving the edges of the white stockings and plush shawl a gentle, luminous glow, instantly establishing a refined anime studio texture.
