[Kasugano Sora cosplay] Mirror Selfie Record of Modern Cheongsam in Black and White Paired with White Stockings and High Heels

In terms of color, this outfit adopts a classic white base with black trim design. The collar retains the stand-up collar and frog button elements of a Chinese cheongsam, but the overall cut is very short. Combined with black piping and black flower embroidery at the hem, it visually creates both a retro feel and a playful anime charm. The sleeveless design highlights arm lines, while the mini skirt hem is the visual focal point of the overall look, transitioning down to white suspender stockings. When pairing with such long stockings, the tightness of the garter straps is actually quite crucial—too tight easily leaves marks, while too loose easily slips down. The garter accessories of this set fit just right, and when combined with black patent leather high heels, the black-and-white contrast is exceptionally eye-catching, elongating leg proportions while creating a light and lively contrast.

Regarding the head styling, off-white long straight hair was used this time, trimmed with neat straight bangs that frame the face well. Coupled with hair accessories featuring black and white spheres and bows on both sides, the overall look above the head appears much fuller. The hair accessories have a firm texture that holds stray hairs on both sides of the wig nicely in place, echoing the main outfit where the black-and-white hair ornaments match the clothing's black-and-white lines perfectly. The prop used during the shoot was a black plush rabbit doll, which existed to break the awkwardness of not knowing where to put my hands when simply standing. In the high-angle standing shots of the first and second photos, having one hand gently caress the hair or resting downward holding the rabbit made my center of gravity look much more natural. In mirror selfies, I habitually cover my face with the phone, which reduces the pressure of staring into the lens and allows focus to remain on the outfit itself. The sitting pose in the third photo is my favorite shot from this set. Sitting with legs crossed not only clearly showcases the combination of white stockings and black high heels, but also stretches out the lower body lines. From this angle, the glossy surface of the black patent leather reflects ambient room lighting, giving the shoes great texture, while the rabbit doll resting casually on the floor creates a cozy, lazy home vibe.

Many friends familiar with the original work might feel this outfit looks somewhat different from the character in memory. Indeed, while doing this Kasugano Sora cosplay, I retained her iconic hair color and hairstyle on one hand, while attempting to integrate this Modern Cheongsam with rabbit ear elements on the other. I believe cosplay doesn't necessarily have to be restricted to a character's original classic outfit design; as long as core character traits are presented, incorporating personal preferred everyday fashion styles can often produce unique photo results. Such an attempt might be relatively rare at conventions or outdoor locations, but in indoor mirror selfies, it surprisingly fits everyday living environments without feeling overly unnatural or forced.

Finally, let's talk about the shooting experience. Taking phone selfies in front of a full-length mirror at home really tests pose fluidness. Since the phone covers most of the face, viewers' eyes naturally focus on the clothing, props, and body language. So across these three photos, I tried side-facing, front standing, and sitting poses respectively, hoping to showcase the garment's features from different angles. Light-colored tiles in the living room and warm-toned doors provided soft ambient light for the white dress. This everyday home environment gave this slightly anime-style fashion outfit a relatable, lived-in charm. For trying out new makeup and pairings, a relaxed mirror selfie record makes it easier to find a comfortable state compared to studio shoots, while offering a more direct look at how the outfit works in real life.
