This shoot leaned into a casual gym uniform concept; although accented with numerous character accessories, the overarching aesthetic remained grounded in an authentic school vibe. The pink circular halo atop my crown was cut from acrylic sheeting and hand-painted; to shed excess weight, its interior was hollowed out, clipping securely into the wig foundation. The black feathered wings behind my back were surprisingly lightweight, anchored across my shoulders and back via clear invisible straps. Formed around a pliable wire armature wrapped in black plumage, they occasionally needed micro-adjustments on set to maintain crisp silhouette lines before the camera.
The wig was a long pink twintail style trimmed with blunt bangs. To prevent the fibers from collapsing flat against the scalp, internal hair padding was inserted, with the tips given a subtle curl to honor canon character art. The track uniform featured a white base with navy-blue ribbing along the collar and cuffs; the crest emblem on the left chest was a custom print, and the athletic shorts featured bright yellow racing stripes along the sides. The textile possessed generous stretch, avoiding awkward pulling or bunching during kneeling and squatting poses. The black choker around my neck was crafted from supple custom leather, fitting comfortably without choking.
For eye makeup, pink and reddish eyeshadow tones were diffused along the lower lash line, paired with light-toned contacts to emphasize a slightly drooping puppy-eye shape, accented with fine under-eye glitter to cultivate an innocent yet playfully languid gaze. Blush was dusted high across the upper cheekbones to harmonize with the pink hair. The overall makeup remained clean and delicate, focusing on capturing her tsundere, delightfully adorable persona.
Props included a plush teddy bear, a long sniper rifle prop, and an aesthetic art booklet. The plush bear was remarkably soft, making it effortless to slip into character while hugging it. When posing with the long rifle, managing balance and arm angles was paramount: given its physical length, holding it incorrectly in seated poses could easily obstruct leg lines. Thus, during seiza and extended-leg poses, I positioned the prop running forward across the frame as a leading compositional line, adding dimensional depth. The booklet was used alternately to conceal half my face for mysterious allure or propped atop my head to tease out mischievous micro-expressions.
The indoor venue utilized the organic texture of hardwood flooring against clean white walls to let the character and styling pop. Lighting struck a soft balance between cool and warm temperatures, with a soft key light grazing from the side to bring out pristine fabric weave and synthetic hair fiber luster. The fine knit of the White stockings looked exceptionally smooth against the wooden floorboards; I varied my leg postures between elongated lines and bent-knee dynamics to keep frames lively and fluid. Throughout these stances, I maintained steady core balance to avoid feeling cramped in gym shorts and over-knee hosiery.
While collaborating on set with another creator, calling out 'Sensei' and receiving an in-character response sparked a wonderful, authentic spark that the lens caught in real time, naturally drawing out genuine reactions true to Koharu. The shoot proceeded seamlessly, and every deliberate detail—from wardrobe coordination to prop staging—aimed for peak fidelity. I look forward to exploring diverse cosplay aesthetics and continuing to hone my craft in future projects.
