This Cheshire Cosplay qipao outfit performed exceptionally well at the anime convention. The glossy light-blue fabric shimmered with a delicate luster under the overhead hall lighting. Combined with the chest cutout and delicate neckline chain design, it preserved the character's original traits while adding the sophistication of an evening gown. The gold embroidered patterns on the cuffs and hem contrasted distinctly against the bright fabric, giving the entire qipao outfit rich visual depth.
The most eye-catching piece was definitely the long white plush shawl. Beyond being visually ultra-fluffy and soft, the large area of 3D gold embroidery at the bottom and the dangling yellow tassels were major highlights among the accessories. Walking through the venue, this shawl had an imposing presence; although slightly heavy and cumbersome to move in, it truly elevated the character's majestic aura when posing for the camera. However, posing required extra care—I had to control the drape of the shawl using my arms or props so it wouldn't completely conceal the tailored silhouette of the qipao itself.
The head styling was equally meticulous: a wide-brimmed formal hat trimmed with 3D blue flowers and lace edging harmonized beautifully with the gradient grayish-blue short hair. For the wig, I chose a bob styled with a gradient shifting from grayish-purple at the roots to vibrant blue at the ends. The soft texture of the hair contrasted well with the glossy outfit, preventing the look from feeling flat. Blue contact lenses enhanced the 2D anime vibe, while defined eye makeup paired with red lips created an exquisitely polished manga aesthetic on camera.
The lower half styling adhered closely to the character design, featuring white stockings with frilly cuffs paired with glossy light-blue pointed high heels, which visually elongated the leg lines. The delicate small bow on the toe of the heels balanced the maturity of the pumps, preserving the character's playful charm. To shoot these convention photos, I deliberately avoided crowded main aisles and found a relatively quiet corner. The venue's lighting was quite intricate with numerous overhead point lights, but the photographer utilized a large-aperture lens and a reflector to blur background booths and spotlights into soft, circular bokeh. This preserved the bustling convention atmosphere while keeping the subject crisp and prominent.
In terms of poses, I experimented with several different stances. A one-legged standing pose used shifting body weight to convey airy dynamism, a seated pose on the floor felt more effortless and approachable, and sitting on a folding chair emphasized leg lines and elegant seated posture. Although the venue floor was cold gray concrete, placing a fluffy mat as a divider quickly defined a dedicated shooting space. The greatest challenge in convention photography is balancing the subject with the venue environment. In post-processing, we mainly adjusted highlights and skin tones without over-retouching the fabric textures, preserving the weave of the qipao and the fluffy fur details of the faux-fur shawl. I hope these convention photos deliver an authentic, textured, and immersive feel of Azur Lane Cheshire.
