From finalizing the styling to stepping into the studio, far more effort was poured into recreating every detail on the character than anticipated. Rather than choosing an overly complex setting, the goal was to rely on fine details, light, and shadow to bring the character's serene yet subtly mysterious aura into reality.

First, let's talk about the hair and makeup. The white wig was custom-made; to match the layered look of the character, the ends were fine-tuned, and I tested the curve of the bangs and sideburns multiple times with a curling iron and pomade to ensure they naturally hugged the black horn ornaments on both sides of my head. As for that pair of black horns, they were crafted from lightweight resin and secured via magnetic attachments, ensuring they wouldn't wobble during shooting while relieving strain on my head. For eye makeup, I deliberately elongated the eyeliner and highlighted the inner corners, which, paired with light-colored contact lenses, fully brought out the penetrating focus and spirit of the eyes under the studio's cool light sources.

Costume coordination was the centerpiece of this styling. This is a modified Chinese-style black mini dress whose biggest highlight lies in the gilded embroidery across the chest and skirt hem. These golden traditional patterns stand out vividly against the black foundation fabric; to avoid obscuring the embroidery details, a tailored fit on the upper bodice was especially crucial. The white ruffled stand-up collar at the neckline softened the overall rigidity, adding a touch of regal elegance. The exaggerated, expansive black bell sleeves on both sides serve not only as the character's iconic motif but also as fantastic visual amplifiers in studio photography. When I raised my hands and spread them outward, the sweeping arc of the sleeves seamlessly filled the negative space between my shoulders and the background, focusing visual attention on my torso and face to evoke an ethereal, all-embracing presence.

The waist accessories were crafted with equal care—a wide black belt paired with golden tassel pendants cinched the waistline while stabilizing the visual weight of the attire. For the lower half, I selected an opaque black tights outfit paired with black high heels. A snug fit is paramount: the dark tights flatter the leg lines beautifully, working with the elongating effect of the heels to extend visual flow from the waist all the way down to the ankles. During the shoot, I chose a standing posture with feet slightly apart and calves crossed close together, which kept the legs elongated, leveraged the lens's wide angle to maximize leg proportion, and accentuated slender, fluid contours true to the character's physique.

The photographer put great thought into the set design, placing a traditional Chinese pipa diagonally on the left of the frame to echo the oriental theme. Behind me stood a dark carved wooden Chinese chair draped with an intricate red, yellow, and brown patterned blanket. These warm-toned vintage props provided remarkable textural richness. For lighting, we boldly employed cool blue-purple overhead and side lights striking the white hair and black dress, creating an intense collision between warm and cool tones. This high-contrast lighting rendered the shadows deep and velvety while imbuing highlights (such as the white hair, gold embroidery, and leg reflections) with an exquisite sheen. The cool blue tones juxtaposed against the warm background cushions elevated the cinematic quality of the frame.

Throughout the shoot, I had to balance the stability of the headpiece, the smoothness of the garment, and restrained expressions. She is not an emotionally overt 2D character, so before the lens, I restrained my smile, focusing my gaze slightly above the center of the camera to maintain a poised, elegant, and subtly aloof demeanor. Managing the wide sleeves also demanded precision: raising my arms without stiffness and letting fingers drape naturally, with every click of the shutter marking a refined harmony between body language, light, and shadow.

The final result aligned closely with my initial vision—minimalist, clean, yet packed with rich texture. Through high-contrast colors and exquisite details, successfully bringing a 2D character into real physical space made this a thoroughly satisfying studio photography experience.
