[Rikka Takarada cosplay] SSSS.Gridman: Everyday school vibe under the white studio

I finally managed to shoot this classic uniform set for Rikka Takarada. Actually, the core difficulty of cosplaying this character isn't the clothes, but capturing that everyday, natural feel. To match the clean and transparent lighting of the white studio, I leaned toward natural and relaxed movements in my pose design. For instance, when sitting on the ground, leaning my body weight slightly backward, supporting the ground with my hands, or bending my legs, which can better showcase the line definition of thick thighs in front of the lens. The texture of the blue hair stands out remarkably against the pure white background, eliminating the need for overly complex background props, allowing the visual focus to concentrate entirely on the character herself. The wig's bangs took a long time to trim; to match the character's original design of slightly blunt-cut straight bangs, the edges were given a delicate, wispy treatment. The black wired headphones were specially prepared; when hanging around the neck, care had to be taken not to mess up the clothes too much. The dark red bow and burgundy mid-calf socks played an accentuating role in the color scheme, matching the white knit cardigan to make the overall tone very harmonious.
When shooting these photos, my cooperation with the photographer Hongbai at Yuzi Photography Studio went extremely smoothly. White studio photography actually tests your state intensely, because there are no background sets to help you get into character; all emotions must be conveyed through your eyes and body language. At first, I struggled a bit to find the feeling, but later I gradually adjusted my breathing, imagining myself in the classroom after class, perhaps daydreaming with headphones on or thinking about trivial matters. Once I nailed that feeling of daydreaming and casual nonchalance, the success rate of getting great shots skyrocketed. Special mention goes to these loafers and burgundy socks; they have a bit of thickness and feel rather substantial when walking, which accordingly added a lot of authenticity to the school life feel.
Many people think that cosplaying such everyday-oriented characters is very easy, but that's not true. Without gorgeous special effects and extravagant costumes, what gets tested is the most fundamental posture management and expression control. While shooting this sitting posture photo, I repeatedly adjusted the position of my legs to ensure they wouldn't look bloated in the frame while maintaining an upright upper body. The yellow hair tie on my left hand is also a visual highlight; when reaching out to gather my hair, it just breaks up the monotony of the large area of white. Tightening the backpack straps slightly brings out minor clothing wrinkles, giving the frame more depth.
Overall, this shoot was a very comfortable process. The lighting and setup of the venue were extremely professional, saving me a lot of trouble in post-processing. The texture produced by the white studio is exactly the clean and crisp look I wanted, with zero drag or clutter. This set of photos fulfills an obsession I've had to cosplay this character for a long time. Looking at the finished photos showing that slightly lazy and casual state, I am quite satisfied with myself. The overall color coordination and composition met expectations, and I hope to maintain this stable photo output state in the future. I was completely exhausted after finishing work, but seeing the raw photos on the camera made it all worth it.
