[Melantha cosplay] Letters from Wessex on the Streets of Sydney

This photoshoot in Sydney primarily revolved around the Letters from Wessex skin theme. To prepare for this cosplay, a lot of effort went into hair and makeup well in advance. The pink-purple wig was trimmed and styled, and paired with the black top hat featuring beast ears, the character's persona was instantly established. Since the character inherently possesses a gentle and quiet temperament, the makeup was kept translucent, and I consciously practiced keeping my gaze more focused. In terms of costume details, the red-and-black plaid shawl paired with the neck bow was rich in texture; the white shirt underneath the dark long coat, layered over a pink dress with a plaid waist sash, provided great visual depth. The black leather gloves enhanced the character traits and looked wonderful when holding the prop book. Paired with light-colored Stockings, sitting on the bench nicely showcased the leg lines.

Sydney's weather is notoriously unpredictable. It happened to be overcast with a light drizzle on the day of the shoot, so in the first photo, I held a black umbrella and carried a vintage brown suitcase while standing amidst flowers—an atmosphere that fit surprisingly well. The bench shoot was full of delightful surprises: sitting on a wooden bench flipping through a red hardcover book against the softly blurred background of fallen leaves and orange berries, the photographer adjusted my posture and angles, keeping the book half-opened to evoke an immersive reading atmosphere. Repeatedly adjusting poses was actually tiring, especially when balancing prop handling to look natural rather than stiff. In many backlit situations, it was thanks to the photographer's control over lighting that the finished shots had such great texture. To fit the character's persona, I deliberately slowed down my movements, using props like the umbrella and red book to better immerse into the character's headspace. Walking on the bustling streets of Sydney did make me feel a bit shy, but seeing the final photos made all the effort feel worthwhile. In terms of wearing experience, the coat had great tailoring, and the skirt length was just right so sitting on the bench didn't risk wardrobe malfunctions. The diamond-shaped ornaments on the sleeves, though small, added subtle detail. The gloves got a bit stuffy after wearing them for a long time, but for the sake of faithful recreation, it was completely acceptable.
