Official photoshoot log: today I'm sharing this black-and-red demonic styling for Azur Lane's Gotz von Berlichingen.

This ensemble is loaded with exquisite details. The gradient horns and wings alone were quite heavy in hand, and their wire-supported frames imposed a few constraints when striking poses. Moreover, the outfit is defined by its materials: the glossy black latex surface paired with silver metallic cross accents puts texture to the test in post-processing—especially the highlight reflections across the chest and abdomen, which are the very soul of this look.

Pre-shoot preparations were rather intricate. The voluminous red ruffled sleeves and flowing train take up considerable space, demanding constant care while posing to avoid pressing hard creases into the fabric. The textural contrast between the sheer black thigh garter and the tall boots was fascinating; the boots feature a stiff, mirror-like patent finish that catches warm lighting intensely. Our shooting location was an antique library where reddish-brown carved leather sofas and warm yellow candelabras flawlessly complemented the character's aristocratic aura.

Given her haughty, seductive personality, facing the camera meant conveying a commanding, imperious presence while keeping poses relaxed—such as extending the legs to let wide-angle perspective elongate body lines and unleash her full dominance. The photographer arranged the lighting meticulously; combining a primary key light with side rim lighting gave the red skirts rich depth while accentuating the leg silhouettes. In terms of subtle expression, a focused gaze and a slight upward chin tilt brought the character's demeanor vividly to life.

We captured this look from multiple perspectives: low upward angles to emphasize dominance, and level eye-line shots to flatter bodily curves. My favorite shot is perching on the edge of the sofa with legs stretched forward, which showcased long legs and the thigh-garter design while pointing the sharp toes of the heeled boots toward the lens for strong visual punch. Getting in and out of the outfit was certainly laborious, and maintaining poses was physically draining.

Yet that is precisely where the joy of Anime-style photography lies: bringing a beloved character to life through personal interpretation against fitting backdrops and deliberate lighting. Despite the hefty props and tedious upkeep, seeing the final outcome made it completely worthwhile. The 2D world is magic in reality.
