[Columbina Cosplay] Genshin Impact: Serene White-and-Blue Moments with a Girlish vibe

For this Columbina Cosplay shoot from Genshin Impact, preparing just the wig and costume took nearly an entire week. The dress features numerous layers, interweaving white and blue fabrics. The golden metallic pieces on the bodice and cuffs had to be glued carefully into their exact positions, while an expansive drape of blue tulle across the back needed smoothing to form natural folds. The wig was equally time-consuming: the black blunt bangs had to be trimmed to just graze the eyebrows, and the twintails with red-pink gradients required hair wax to sculpt crisp lines. As for the pair of white wing hair ornaments at the crown, I adjusted the internal hair clips multiple times to fit the shape of my head, ensuring they wouldn't easily fall off even during dynamic movements.

The heart of the makeup was crafting that slightly melancholic, tranquil Girlish vibe. For eyeshadow, I blended soft pink across a wide area, paired with pink-toned contact lenses, and selected a berry shade with slightly higher saturation for the lips so the face held a clear focal point in front of the lens. Because studio lights were quite intense, the foundation had to be exceptionally clean, with blush added to bring a touch of vitality and prevent the face from looking flat under the powerful softboxes during our Cosplay photography session.

The location was a large studio where reflectors, tripods, and black softboxes were visible in the background, with other photographers and cosplayers busy working around us. I spread a white plush rug by my feet to beautifully complement the white skirt. To convey the character's disposition, I chose seated poses on the floor. In the first set of poses, I crossed my hands over my chest, leaning slightly forward with a spaced-out, distant gaze, holding back expressions without engaging facial muscles too much when looking at the camera. For the second pose, I transitioned to sitting sideways with my legs naturally extended, which fully showcased the layered structure of the skirt and leg contours.

I wore sheer white Stockings, which created subtle sheen reflections under the studio lighting. To maintain clean visuals, I constantly monitored the folds of the skirt so excess fabric wouldn't bunch around the legs and disrupt the visual lines. Maintaining seated poses for extended periods genuinely tested my core strength, as the upper torso had to remain tall and upright, requiring regular back stretches between takes. Throughout shooting these photos, I constantly sought that quiet, detached atmosphere as if isolated from the surrounding world, repeatedly fine-tuning where my gaze landed.

While adjusting the skirt, I found the multi-layered tulle easily tangled; moving or shifting sitting positions required gently separating each layer to prevent knots. Every time I cosplay, I strive to capture my very first impression of the character. This time, Columbina struck me as quiet and deeply enigmatic, so I kept my movements minimal, relying on subtle body angles and delicate shifts in my gaze to communicate emotion. Although the shoot was physically demanding, seeing the light, shadow, and garment textures displayed on the camera monitor made all the prep work and exhaustion completely worthwhile. Moving forward, I will continue exploring different styles of costumes and lighting expressions to document even more diverse imagery.
