Running back-to-back at the CP exhibition today, I can say my stamina bar was stretched to the limit. For this CPSP Guangzhou event, I prepared a total of four completely different styles of outfits, from the red dress with black stockings in the morning, to the techwear uniform in the middle, and then to the gothic style in the afternoon. By the end of the day, it felt like experiencing four different character states.
First, let's talk about the first red qipao outfit. The cut of this outfit is exceptionally form-fitting. To pull off that sharp sense of lines, I put a lot of thought into choosing the inner layer. The red satin fabric has a great reflective effect under the venue's spotlights, and the golden print details on it hold up well to close-up camera shots. For the paired black stockings, I chose a style with slight light compression, making the thigh muscle lines look firmer when sitting on the ground. Because the skirt split is quite high, I constantly had to mind smoothing the skirt edges during sitting poses to avoid unnatural wrinkles. Although thick-soled high heels really make the soles of my feet hurt after standing for a long time, the photo results are truly worth it to elongate the visual proportion of the legs.
For the second blonde and white dress styling, the biggest challenge was that silver briefcase prop. The aluminum alloy material is truly very heavy, and carrying it with one hand makes the center of gravity very easy to destabilize, requiring constant secret effort from the wrist. To capture that cold, aloof agent vibe, I practiced standing against the wall for quite a while to make my body present a posture that is both relaxed and full of tension. The blue ring headpiece is made of acrylic material; to keep it fixed on my head without sliding down, I used several bobby pins inside to lock it tightly. The black-and-white uniform paired with white stockings looked exceptionally clean under outdoor natural light, and the color contrast of the out-of-camera raw photos was already quite satisfactory. For this makeup look, I also intentionally made the eye makeup look a bit sharper.
In the afternoon, when going to the lawn to shoot the third horned styling, I ran into a small situation. That pair of red-and-white gradient horns on top of my head was fixed with a headband. Because the weight distribution was uneven, slightly lowering my head would make them tilt forward. I could only deliberately maintain a posture where my neck strained backward. Fortunately, the plush cushion helped a lot, and the kneeling posture allowed me to better spread out the heart-shaped lace edge of the skirt completely. For this makeup look, I intentionally intensified the blush under the eyes, and paired with blue-purple contact lenses, I wanted to create a cute vibe with a touch of yandere.
The last set was the improved white version shot at the indoor booth. The foot traffic at the scene was exceptionally large, with people everywhere in the background. Fortunately, the booth lighting was fantastic, and the translucent puff sleeves had a soft halo under the strong light. The fabric elasticity of this outfit was much better than the first set, so in front of the lens, I tried some more energetic single-leg jumping actions. The stretching texture of the white stockings during movement unexpectedly turned out very photogenic. Running around at a convention all day is truly physical work—touching up makeup, changing clothes, putting on and taking off various complex accessories, the schedule was packed tight. Every time in front of the lens, I had to quickly adjust my state, switching my gaze and emotions according to different costumes. Although I'm too tired to speak today, seeing these preview photos makes me feel like all the hard work has melted away.
