The set design this time featured an all-blue-and-white color palette, chosen primarily to harmonize with the sweeping royal blue across Cerydra's outfit. From cascading blue drapery to clusters of blue flowers on the floor, the overall lighting scheme tilted cool; laying down reflective flooring immediately elevated the visual texture to another level.
The layering of the costume is remarkably intricate. The light blue petals and satin ribbons on the top offer an exceptional fit, while the black waist corset was cinched fairly tight—I even watched my diet a bit beforehand for a sharper on-camera silhouette. The detached black-and-white arm sleeves feature geometric motifs; to keep them firmly anchored in place without shifting, the inner lining was secured with numerous safety pins. The blue-and-gold feathered headpiece carries considerable weight, fastened with bobby pins to the silver-white gradient wig, with plenty of styling spray applied to the side strands.
The most eye-catching highlight in the frames has to be the showcase of long legs. The left leg features a black over-the-knee boot with vivid blue cutout detailing; its material is quite rigid, restricting knee bending, whereas the right leg's white ankle sock and blue high heel were comparatively light and mobile. To pull off this seated pose with the left leg elevated high and the torso leaning back, my core muscles were constantly engaged, back muscles remained taut, and my left toes had to point firmly to support the boot's structural shape. The small golden prop held in hand wasn't large, but keeping it rock-steady before the camera meant suspending my arm in mid-air for prolonged stretches.
In the background, chess sculptures, white classical pillars, and angel statues, combined with high-angle lighting, lent the overall atmosphere a grand, epic quality. During shooting, to align with the camera angle, I tucked my chin slightly while keeping my gaze calm and confident throughout. Because the wig is quite long, turning and repositioning easily caught onto the trailing ribbons behind me; every adjustment required gently smoothing down the long black streamers to ensure the white geometric totems on them were fully displayed.
The tactile quality of the props was fantastic, but balancing the subject with the setting within such an elaborate environment is a technical craft. For instance, the white chess pieces on the table required finding the right perspective angle. This shoot granted me a deeper understanding of the character's costume structure, from the cinching hold of the corset to the snug wrap of the boots—every micro-adjustment was made to bring the vision closer to faithful recreation. I hope everyone enjoys this meticulously curated presentation of light and shadow.
