Putting on this Arknights W outfit and standing in the indoor hall of the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo, the first thing I felt was the inherent weight of the leather jacket. The black-and-red leather coat, coupled with the gray scarf around the collar, concentrated the visual weight on the upper body, making it ideal for wide-angle or low-angle upward perspective shots.
For makeup and hair, the wig featured red and white highlights, and the red horn headpieces enhanced character recognition. Yellow contact lenses and red lips paired with elongated eyeliner gave the gaze a sharper edge under the venue's cool white overhead lights. The most deliberate detail of this cosplay outfit is its asymmetrical styling. On the lower body, one leg wears black fishnet stockings while the other is fitted with a white-striped over-the-knee sock—a design that not only creates visual depth, but also drastically elongates the leg lines in seated or squatting poses through low-angle wide perspectives. The texture of the black fishnet stockings takes on a unique tactile quality under the lighting, appealing directly to every stocking lover's aesthetic.
The prop gun had considerable weight; holding it required finding the right balance to strike natural gun-wielding poses. Especially when kneeling on one knee to aim forward with the stock pressed against my shoulder, the black-and-red tactical style instantly brought out an intense combat atmosphere. During shooting, I also tried a mid-air floating technique for the prop grenade—that little green prop wasn't actually thrown, but held in one hand and composited in post-processing. When capturing such dynamic frames, matching expressions and leaning slightly backward add much greater tension to the composition.
The convention venue was bustling and cluttered, but the floor reflections worked out surprisingly well. The reflective indoor tiles added a layer of translucency to the composition. To highlight the portrait, the photographer deliberately sought out relatively open corners. With background blur, the red and black color scheme became the undisputed focal point, richly saturated alongside the gray base layer and scarf.
When it comes to convention photos, candid snapshots often capture more natural expressions; unlike meticulously planned studio shoots, finding angles and light inside an exhibition hall truly tests adaptability. The cut and material of this outfit create great dynamic movement while walking, especially the moments when the skirt flares up. I also angled myself to reveal the inner red lining of the skirt, preventing the overall styling from looking dull. Shooting was honestly exhausting because I had to maintain my expression and pose stability amidst the crowd, especially when adjusting seated poses to showcase leg lines. Thanks to the photographer's sharp lens capture, I really love the final texture and presence delivered.
