[Momoka Hanyuu Cosplay] Arknights Carnival: The Sweetness and Energetic Charm of Plaid & Bows

Fully bringing Momoka Hanyuu's classic look into reality required infusing every single detail with the character's signature energetic charm and delicate refinement. Having just wrapped up my itinerary at Arknights Carnival, while I have a bit of free time, I decided to thoroughly organize my thoughts on wearing this cosplay outfit and the overall makeup and styling process.

First, let's talk about the wig, which required the most effort. To recreate the gradient transition from peach pink to bright orange, I put a lot of work into color selection and styling. The top features a soft, pale peach shade that flows along the hair shafts into a higher-brightness orange-red at the ends. This warm-and-cool tonal gradient is extremely eye-catching under camera lenses, particularly beneath complex overhead lights in exhibition halls where hair luster pops naturally. The bangs were adjusted and trimmed twice to retain a fluffy, cute feel without looking heavy, framing the face shape nicely alongside subtle curved side curls.

Looking at the costume details: the oversized brown velvet ribbon bow atop the head serves as the finishing touch. Unlike stiff bows, it has a soft, slightly relaxed drape, adding a touch of playful, childlike charm to the head-to-shoulder proportions. On the chest, a large deep-red bow forms a striking visual contrast against the off-white lace stand-up collar. A thin black velvet ribbon holds a white pearl pendant that hangs right at the collar center, swaying subtly with every step to elevate overall sophistication. The sleeveless plaid dress forms the core lower garment, interweaving reddish-brown checks with color-blocked chest detailing. Paired with a light matching jacket, it provided warmth in air-conditioned halls while avoiding bulkiness when worn open, giving the outfit instant visual depth.

For makeup, I selected soft pink eyeshadows to complement the hair color, paired with red contact lenses to instantly capture the character's playful and vibrant gaze. Eyeliner and mascara were kept gentle to soften aggressiveness and preserve clear, bright pupils, while reddish-orange blush swept across the cheeks made facial contours appear charmingly sweet and adorable.

Arriving at the event venue, I have to say the atmosphere of Arknights was absolutely incredible! While taking photo ops and collecting Convention photos on site, I noticed this costume displays entirely different textures between natural light and warm hall lighting. In bright, metallic corridors like image one, the orange-pink hair becomes the visual centerpiece; whereas in image two, taking an indoor mirror selfie with frosted glass and soft lighting, the dark red plaid and wide brown bow anchor the image steadily and harmoniously.

Regarding shooting, the mirror selfie in image two aimed to convey a casual, everyday recording vibe of Casual cosplay. Finding angles with a phone front camera before a glass door captured upper-body outfit details and silhouette comprehensively. Without forced posing, angling my body slightly allowed shoulder and collarbone lines to show naturally, with an arm resting lightly against the jacket edge to highlight the contours of the large bow and plaid dress clearly. This effortless style found a subtle balance between 2D character settings and 3D reality.

Overall, while this outfit doesn't have an excessive number of accessories, every element—the gradient hair, lace collar, black ribbon pendant, oversized bow, and plaid—aligns perfectly aesthetically. Transporting these character details into real life and participating in the physical revelry of Arknights Carnival is a deeply fulfilling experience in itself.
