The phrase "the old songs still echo among the floating waves" automatically brings to mind Helektra's cool-toned figure against a Gothic backdrop. Every time I wear a Honkai: Star Rail Helektra cosplay outfit, it feels like a deep dialogue about temperament.
This shoot took place in a studio filled with vintage elements. The set featured a large number of purple and white hydrangea bouquets and classical Roman columns, along with a vast expanse of mirror flooring, which perfectly matched the character's deep sense of mystery. The details of the costume, makeup, and props hold up under close scrutiny in actual shots, including the swirling dark patterns on the tulle sleeves, the unique white irregularly-shaped headpiece, and the asymmetrical red and black gloves. Even the long-handled weapon was specially customized, featuring a metallic texture and chain designs.
To match Helektra's cold gaze, I wore bright blue colored contacts this time, and the base makeup was kept cleaner and sharper than usual, with a special emphasis on facial contours. In front of the lens, I tried to interpret different emotional states: lazy contemplation while leaning against a Roman column, a playful and teasing gesture with my hand, and intense focus while holding the weapon ready for battle. Although posing while carrying this long-handled weapon was quite physically drainingâespecially with the thick-soled boots and heavy skirt, which required more control during turning movementsâit was entirely worth it for the character.
One tricky part of wearing this outfit was that the irregularly-shaped hair accessory and the collar on the neck tended to interfere with each other. It took quite some time to adjust their positions at first, but once they were properly set, that visual aura of cold elegance immediately emerged. Although the tulle sleeves are beautiful, they are somewhat fragile. I had to remain mindful not to let them snag on the metal chains of the prop weapon while posing, but the final result was well worth the careful effort.
Seeing the texture of light and shadow flowing across the tulle fabric in the final photos of this mirror photography session, along with the mirror perfectly reflecting the character and the set, made me feel that every bit of effort put into the character had paid off. I really enjoy the process of slowly approaching a character's soul through cosplay; it's not just about a precise physical recreation, but also about capturing that innate cold, elegant temperament that I have always wanted to grasp. Viewed as cosplay through a photographer's eyes, the European Gothic scene paired with Helektra's outfit turned out exceptionally brilliant under the enhancement of cold purple atmospheric lights. The reflection in the mirror is not just a physical image, but also seems to mirror the character's inner peace and sense of self.
After shooting this session, although my ankles took some strain from the weight of the shoes and gravity, seeing the textbook lighting control and visual tension in the final photos made all the hardships vanish. Huge thanks to the photographer and makeup artist for their continuous companionship and meticulous refinement on set, helping to adjust the angles of the props so that every raw shot exceeded expectations. Sharing this cosplay set is driven by the hope that more fellow fans can feel Helektra's charm and the sincerity we put into restoring the character in the studio.
