This set of Ishtar photos was shot right before the closing of the Qingkong Anime Convention on June 9, 2024, by photographer Xiao Xiexin. The on-site environment was quite chaotic at the time, as closing hour was approaching and everyone was packing up to leave. We had to rush against the clock to shoot in front of the glass doors and steps near the entrance, hence the 'closing time struggle' feel in the title. This Fate/Grand Order costume features rich details: a deep navy starry sky dress paired with a white lace-trimmed underskirt, opera-length white gloves, and a tailored neckline that together create wonderful dimensional depth. The blue-black bow adorned with a golden cross atop the head, combined with the golden cross chain on the chest, red pupils, and straight black hair, delivers a striking visual impact.
During the shoot, we mainly utilized the steps and glass doors as environmental accents. The outstretched hand gesture in photo one, paired with the vanishing perspective of the glass doors, was designed to enhance depth of field. The kneeling and profile head-tilt poses in photos two and four were crafted to showcase the chest ornament, collar, and layered skirts, while deliberately utilizing the side profile line to make facial contours pop. In photo three, sitting on the steps with fully extended legs was shot from an ultra-low camera angle chosen by the photographer to cleanly frame the white gloves, dark dress drape, white hemline, and leg contours. Paired with glossy black high heels and white ribbons, this visually elongated body proportions. The golden gift box held in hand served as a storytelling prop, keeping the composition from feeling sparse.
As a cosplayer, capturing the character's spirit requires strict expression management alongside costume and makeup coordination. Under such tight time constraints, sheer focus was paramount; lighting shifted rapidly before closing, forcing us to lock down optimal angles within minutes. The resulting cosplay photography turned out very satisfying. Even without a spacious studio setup, the hurried, candid ambiance crafted from the on-site surroundings actually matched the character's lively temperament remarkably well. Wearing 10 cm heels and a relatively heavy headpiece was physically draining, but recording all these nuances during brief downtime left solid convention memories. Photographer Xiao Xiexin's candid timing was exceptionally accurate without wasting a single second, producing solid, textured anime convention photos in a truly efficient session.
