[Ganyu Cosplay] Genshin Impact's Liyue Secretary Roaming the Convention with a Greatbow

I just got the color-graded photos from the convention floor, and photographer @XiaoLan is truly amazing—his timing for snaps and lighting control are exceptionally precise. This Ganyu Cosplay outfit is actually difficult to showcase under the complex lighting of anime conventions, especially since dark tops and tights easily blend into shadows. However, he used fill lights brilliantly to outline silhouettes, making the entire look pop with stunning texture in these Convention photos.

When deciding to cosplay this character, the biggest challenge was the golden bell at the collar and the overall contrasting color scheme. To recreate the concept as faithfully as possible, I selected a base bodysuit combining matte and reflective fabrics, which creates a smooth visual sheen under indoor lighting. You might notice that the halter neckline combined with side waist cutouts puts high demands on posture—I didn't even dare eat too much before the shoot just to maintain clean lines! For the lower body, the deep brown Pantyhose styling cast a silk-like luster under warm studio lighting, and paired with the golden-brown crisscross strap patterns across the thighs, it felt visually far truer to Genshin Impact's original movement design than standard black tights.

During the shoot, we explored several spots—poses ranging from standing and drawing the bow to kneeling postures that capture her dignified yet playful demeanor in the game. That custom greatbow prop was genuinely heavy, constructed from acrylic and wooden panels, making center of gravity hard to control during dynamic poses. Especially for the single-leg standing pose where I shaded my eyes from the sun, keeping core muscles engaged to balance left me sore! Yet seeing the final results, where leg lines wrapped in Pantyhose styling elongated beautifully, made every second of effort entirely worthwhile for this Blue-themed cosplay.

I spent considerable time styling the blue wig as well. To avoid a stiff helmet look, I hand-separated strands to weave delicate small braids, while using styling spray to keep her signature ahoge tuft secured all day. Though I worried about stray frizzy hair initially, the softly blurred anime convention background turned those subtle details into natural vitality. Facing a character from Genshin Impact, the biggest pressure often comes from fears of being "Out of Character" (OOC), since Ganyu is reserved while my presence before camera tends to be lively. Luckily, adding an "OOC apology" serves as a gentle disclaimer; I believe conveying a character's most relaxed and vibrant side is its own form of respectful fan creation.

Anime convention venues are inherently noisy, with behind-the-scenes booths, lighting stands, and passersby constantly creeping into frame—relying entirely on the photographer running around to adjust angles. For instance, in the reclining shot, we spent considerable time arranging a round carpet to dodge ground stains and floor cables. In the final output, thigh composition and pose extensions met all my expectations, with silver laser-trimmed sleeves and white-gold patterned sashes reflecting gorgeously in backlit setups.

Reviewing photos after every cosplay project always reveals areas for improvement, yet retaining such a high-quality set is the most rewarding outcome for all the preparation. Given future opportunities, I hope to try recreating characters across diverse styles, and I look forward to working with Mr. Xiao Lan again to capture more joyful convention moments through the lens in future Convention photos.
