Putting on this pure white ballet-style cosplay outfit and standing next to the barre in the dance studio, I felt like I truly touched upon another side of Hina, distinct from her daily battles. The iconic halo overhead and the small wings props on her back, paired with this white ballet tutu, seemed to bring her to the center of a stage in a parallel universe.
During the actual shoot, the postures of the Ballet style required very strict discipline. To recreate that sense of lightness, I tried my best to adjust the extension of my instep and the openness of my shoulders and neck. The combination of white tights and the soft light from the floor-to-ceiling windows maximizes the texture of the skin and tulle dress, while beautifully contrasting and highlighting Hina's originally dark-toned purple-black wings and headpiece. The toe-pointing movement in the first photo holiday heavily tested my core strength; to keep the frame stable, I spent a long time finding a fulcrum on the barre.
Because the prop wings are rigid, many squatting or bending movements were interfered with, so the composition required constant micro-adjustments of angles to make the wings and halo look as if they grew naturally from the body. I feel this set of looks attempted today perfectly fits the pure, elegant, yet slightly stubborn temperament of Ballet, subtly echoing Hina's personality. I hope this photo set conveys the rhythm of the dance. During the shooting process, the light and shadow shifted very quickly, and capturing the desired posture often required a split-second reaction and body control for this Cosplay photography and Dance photoshoot.
