[Unicorn Cosplay] Azur Lane, The Longed-For Date Day

Returning to the familiar lockers and desks on campus and changing into Unicorn's school uniform look, I felt time instantly pull back into that daily and fresh atmosphere. The wig was handled quite carefully this time; with the purple-blue gradient and these playful low twin-tails, combined with her iconic ahoge, a lot of thought went into styling the layers to avoid a rigid, flat-to-the-scalp look. To make my gaze closer to the character's innocent and pure nature, I specifically chose highly translucent pink colored contacts, and the eye makeup was correspondingly minimized while widening the eye contours.

The location for this classroom photoshoot was chosen in a room that can capture a classic classroom feel. The old-style wooden desks, lockers, and props on the bookshelf beautifully materialized the 2D campus environment. This time, I also specially prepared small items like a manga book and a megaphone to break the stiffness of posing during the shoot. For instance, when holding the manga, I deliberately adjusted the pressure of my fingers to make the book look like it was genuinely and naturally held and flipped through, rather than being awkwardly stiff-fingered. The action of calling out through the megaphone might look a bit exaggerated, but to restore the character's personality—being well-behaved at times and occasionally a bit clumsy—a slightly more lively action brings more dynamism.

In terms of the outfit combination, the classic white knit cardigan, navy blue sailor collar with a pink bowtie, and navy pleated skirt are all iconic elements of the character. To make the overall look more coordinated, I also paid great attention to details, such as how the bowtie was tied and the distribution of the skirt's pleats. The combination of white thigh-highs and black loafers is also the finishing touch of the character's image, giving the entire costume, makeup, and props set an excellent sense of extension in front of the camera. The overall lighting environment for this campus cosplay shoot was very soft, and by subtly adjusting the color temperature, the warm atmosphere belonging to a 'longed-for date' was beautifully brought out. Being able to properly restore my favorite character in this memory-filled setting made me thoroughly enjoy the whole process of this anime cosplay experience.
