Wearing this Shinano cosplay outfit for an Outdoor swimwear shoot by the water was indeed a challenging yet fun experience. While keeping the character's signature White hair and fox ears (with the prominent fox ears taking center stage) and long silver-white hair, this styling features an ultra-lightweight blue-and-white sheer camisole dress. The blue bow on the chest and the white lace choker with a small bell around the neck precisely capture the character's lively and playful charm. For this outdoor shoot, I picked a swimming pool situated right beside natural open water beforehand. The lighting and lush green vegetation blended seamlessly with this refreshing look.
The most intriguing part of the shoot lay in how the costume fabric transformed. The originally airy white tulle becomes visibly translucent once touching the water, clinging closely to the skin. This unique state is precisely the core mood this set aims to convey—creating an intimate, refreshing sensation exclusive to summer. To ensure the best visual outcome, I coordinated compositions closely with the photographer. The posture sitting on the poolside steps in Photo 2 showcases both Shinano's lazy elegance and the graceful design of the swimwear. Naturally stretching my legs across the water's surface looks relaxed without feeling overly posed. The white lace thigh ring is also a subtle detail I adore in this outfit, nicely breaking up the pure white visuals and adding layered dimension.
In terms of expressive gestures, I believe Shinano is not just cute, but inherently carries the maturity and composure of a noble great fox. For instance, in Photo 3, placing a finger gently against the lips while casting a slightly distant gaze at the lens conveys a subtle allure. Meanwhile, the high-angle perspective in Photo 1 highlights the character's expressions and facial details; combined with light-colored contact lenses and delicate eye makeup, it brings the overall look closer to the ethereal, airy texture of the original game art.
The shoot was not entirely smooth sailing, of course. While the pool water wasn't freezing, soaking for extended periods and getting the hair wet caused logistical challenges. The white wig became remarkably heavy in the water, requiring constant adjustments to the hair flow so it wouldn't stick rigidly to my face. The large, fluffy ears—part of the White hair and fox ears aesthetic—were hair accessories with considerable volume, requiring extra care when bending over or shifting postures to avoid throwing off the balance. Outdoor lighting was another test; it was initially overcast, but the diffuse daylight made skin tones look exceptionally soft without harsh shadows, preventing harsh glares on wet fabric and keeping the entire color palette harmonious in a gentle blue-and-white tone for this Cool and ethereal photography.
To better showcase the refreshing lightness of this outfit, I intentionally controlled the angle of my instep while stepping in the water to make the foot lines look natural, which, along with my extended legs, elongated my overall body proportions. After touching the cool pool water, the thigh straps also clung snugly against the skin. I believe the true charm of cosplay lies in this wholehearted immersion—not only wearing the costume properly, but blending completely into the character's world and environment.
Among the final photos, I am personally most satisfied with the composition of Photo 2. The character's proportion in the frame is balanced, and the background landscape and trees are framed beautifully without overpowering the subject. Although my body was immersed in water throughout, seeing the finished shots made every bit of effort worthwhile. This slightly hazy, Cool and ethereal photography summer aesthetic serves as a classic interpretation of this character. I hope to explore more diverse settings in the future, such as wearing her combat outfit by the sea or in the snow, which would offer a totally different visual experience. This experience gave me deeper insights into underwater and wet-look shoots, from wig management to costume non-slip adjustments, accumulating valuable experience for future projects.
