Dropping a full set of Hwah Jah convention photos from BW 2026.
I brought my Manjuu Itasha to the convention this time, which happened to pair wonderfully with this teal outfit. The Itasha features a vibrant yellow plush finish with cartoon facial expressions and star elements on the roof and front, creating a bold, vivid color contrast against my costume.
As for the outfit details, this is a modified teal qipao with a stand-up collar, featuring a teardrop cutout at the chest and completely open cutouts along the sides of the waist. The fabric is a lustrous satin that captures the sunlight with a gorgeous sheen. The skirt boasts an extremely high slit running almost up to the hip; to make walking around easier, I wore white safety shorts underneath. Over the shoulders, I draped a white wide-sleeved sheer shawl—it has an elegant drape, though I had to stay constantly alert in the crowded hall to keep it from being stepped on.
For accessories, the neck choker is black and gold with a golden floral ornament below the collarbone. Golden crescent-shaped pieces adorn the side of the waist, accented by dangling purple and gold tassels that sway gently with every step. The round fan in my hand features a pale-toned leaf adorned with plum blossom branches and matching tassels at the bottom, harmonizing with the waist ornaments.
The wig is a black bob with a silver-white streak highlighted on the left side. For the makeup, I wore blue circle lenses paired with reddish eyeshadow and elongated eyeliner, topped off with a bolder red lipstick and brightened skin tone.
During the shoot, the hall was packed with foot traffic, and several layers of crowds gathered around the Itasha. Photographer ZacsSnow was super professional, leveraging the car's plush texture and the overhead spotlights to capture the stunning backlit rim lighting in Photo 4. To enhance the natural fall of the high-slit skirt while accentuating leg lines and high heels, I tried several poses before placing one foot on the edge of the car body. This stabilized my balance while fully unfurling the skirt, creating balanced edge composition.
Wearing this ensemble around the exhibition hall all day left my feet aching from the high heels, and the satin fabric wrinkled easily, requiring me to smooth it out with my hands constantly. However, the overall BW 2026 experience was fantastic. I met many fellow fans who recognized the character on-site and exchanged plenty of styling tips on costume fitting and wig care. Both the official set and convention photos turned out so satisfying, and having the Itasha in frame added so much visual richness.
